I've never cared too much for feminism, just never thought about it. With women like Caitlin and Tina Fey though, I find myself a little more interested. Not in a man hating way, but these ladies are hilarious! Take the subject matter from "oh bother" to, well, not "oh brother." I'm not shouting "girl power!" But these ladies make some good points, and disguised in such a way that men even enjoy them.
It's a bit crude, but not in a derogatory or disgusting way. She's one of the few people who could use some of the less pleasant words about women and make them seem normal or even a bit empowering... It was refreshing.
She's hilarious and human and I highly recommend this book

The only way it would be any better is if Sam Elliot read it. This guy (in this book anyway) does a fantastic job of portraying an old weathered cowboy-type.

My friend recommended this to me through texts, here's how it went "It's a fantasy type book. The main character is a cowboy and there's time travel." My response "Sounds awesome!" Then the message she was typing went through saying "I know it sounds stupid, but trust me it's really good!"

Anyone else. The was he exhaled audibly at the end of every single sentence was so annoying! Usually when readers have their annoying speech habits, I can get used to them after awhile. I never got used to his. Obnoxious.

Stupid. I am a regular watcher of the daily show, and I generally like it. The book was dumb though. It was dumb statements about the world I already knew, boringly simplistic. Really? Aliens are taking over our planet after its destruction, so here a bit of background on it....

There were a few jokes here and there. Most of it was heard it before, ha we're obnoxious human type stuff

I loved this book! I was a little unsure about it, given the things he has helped invented and a NPR book Review that called him sexist. Well, he redeems himself in his explanations, and he's not sexist--- just an honest dude, in the dating scene a bit and attracted to women, never insults their intelligence etc. (Might not Be that important but it almost kept me from reading the book-- what women wants to read a book
About a dude that think's we're inferior?)
He is so smart, and he talks about his experiments and discoveries without making the reader feel stupid. He adds some background about the subject matter in such a way that I felt educated, he doesn't talk down to the reader. It made me feel more included in his work.
It can be a bit dry at first, but hold on! It gets so much better! I listened to it by myself the first time, then listened to it again with my boyfriend because unloved it so much! Repeat reading is the sign of a good book in my eyes, I won't do it unless I absolutely loved it!

The performance is great! When the author of an autobiography type story, i.e. Tina Fey, David Sedaris, read their own books there tends to be more of a connection with the material. It's more natural and more believable sometimes. The performer of this book reads it like it's his. At times I forgot it wasn't narrated by the author.
With audio books the performer is so important. An annoying speech habit can ruin a story. This performer only adds to it, I don't think I would have enjoyed the written version as much as this one, a hard thing to say about slow
Performances.

Although the subject matter is pretty heavy and dark, the writing is extremely well done. Her characterization is awesome, I felt I really knew the characters. Her descriptions and settings are spot on. I can see it perfectly, but I'm not bored by pages of scene setting. She is an amazing writer, and I am not so explaining it is difficult. She does a better job of it with her writing.

Towards the end, yes. I had no idea what would happen! Not an obvious book you listen to only because you're invested.

Hmmm.... Tough!

The first hour or so is mind-numbingly dull. I stuck through it just because, but it gets better, so much better! Just get through the first part and you'll be sucked in the character's crazy lives!

Yes. It's a good story, hard to get into and sometimes to follow without daydreaming, but worth it in the end.

When I couldn't sleep at night I would count how many times he said "eye-said-eye" His was of drawing out words with his exhale is extremely annoying and hard to get used to.

Her stories are hilarious. She does the feminist thing without going overboard-- my boyfriend liked her book just as much as I did. I liked hearing her career story, and lots about 30 rock. She also brought up the Sarah Pallin thing-- if I was mad (probably wasn't) she redeemed herself completely. She's the coolest.
