I felt I had a hole in my literature knowledge by not having read this book. I didn't know what was going to happen either. The story was excellent and the narration perfect. I was perfectly absorbed into the world of the story. One of the best I have listened to this year.

The story was compelling - at times I felt the emotions of Cora as she was pushed around or dominated by different characters. I totally disagree with a review I read where it said "nothing happened", but then maybe that was written by a man. The only complaint I had was the abrubt ending that was a little short of totally believable, like the writer ran out of time/room so just wanted us to trust her on that was how it ended instead of letting us feel it, like with everything else in the story. Overall it was worth reading and I enjoyed the notes in the back (again in spite of what another reviewer said about that). I read this on Kindle and listened on Audible. I thought that option was overpriced, but nice.

The narration was great - allowing the story to take front and center. The story was good and kept my interest, the ending was a little bit of surprise, even though you knew a surprise was coming. Overall, totally worth my time and money.

I loved this series and so the Pre-quel was a "must listen" for me. I don't regret listening at all and it was entertaining. But, I found the other books more interesting and more rich. Perhaps knowing where it is all going takes away the punch though. Overall, I do recommend this to fans, but don't listen to it first. Maybe its for "fans only".

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The story and characters were interesting and compelling and the narration excellent. I very much felt in the mood of the story and was a little bit glad when my time with it was done, as I was choosing to be part of a dark tale. I definitely recommend this.

For all the hype, I thought this book was mostly a not very interesting read of someone else's diary. I did learn a few things that made the book overall an "add" to my life and mind and not a detract, but it wasn't truely compelling. At least twice while listening to it I was very close to taking Audible up on its return policy. It was just boring enough that I would have rather read a magazine while working out. Normally getting to hear what happened next is my treat that gets me onto the cardio machine, not so with this book. The narration was good though.

This was an amazing story and very engaging. There is nothing special about the reader but like all good audio books you forget the reader very quickly and just get absorbed in the story.
