Because their real names will reveal their Jewishness, they are renamed "Hansel" and "Gretel". One of the comedy world's fastest-rising stars tells his wild coming of age story during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. Noah provides something deeper than traditional memoirists: powerfully funny observations about how farcical political and social systems play out in our lives.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

If I had known what this book was really about,I wouldn't have bought it, but Thank God. I was interested from the get go and became so enraptured by the endearing charactets and sharply witty dialogue and kept listening...then I was hooked. Not my norm read, but well worth a listen.

He's a dedicated attorney who has never lost a case; she is a flawless homemaker, a masterful gardener and cook, and dotes on her disabled younger sister. Though they are still newlyweds, they seem to have it all. You might not want to like them, but you do. On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

Joseph W. Naus was living the American dream. He'd survived a brutal childhood, graduated from Pepperdine Law School, and become a successful attorney. Then one night his American dream life became a nightmare when his sex and alcohol addictions collided and exploded. "On Tuesday I was a respected civil trial lawyer making six-figures. On Wednesday I woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed, charged with attempted murder...and then it got worse."

The book was hard to read. As a recovering addict, I completely understand the process Nause went through. The story includes graphic derogatory descriptions of women, which was hard to handle, but depicted the state of his mind. If you can get through that addiction talk and you are struggling, this book may encourage you by seeing parallels in your life and may guide you to go to a meeting. As a 5 year sober SLAA, it reminds me of the daily steps ,the need to walk the walk, and the reminder am not alone.

When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

What made the experience of listening to The Princess Diarist the most enjoyable?

I was a big Star Wars fan when it came out in 1977. I found out about Harrison and Carrie and had to listen.

What did you like best about this story?

It gives you insight into how Carrie was feeling during those months of filming and then some.

What does Carrie Fisher and Billie Lourd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Having Carrie read the book personally, it takes on a real personal feel.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Carrie Fisher's writing is superb! I wish more writers wrote like her.

    Any additional comments?

Sad she is gone. I'm glad she wrote because, clearly, her gift was in her writing. Poetic and funny. Admirable to see such a wise writer.
