I love the Sophie Katz books, but it seems like it's been a while since the last one. When this new installment began with the same characters and their hallmark traits, I was afraid the Sophie series had gone stale. Wrong! This is Kyra Davis at her best. Fun plot twists, fascinating new characters who we may hear from again, laugh-out-loud dialogue, and a spot-on narration by Gabra Zackman -- I can't imagine anyone else doing these voices. Brilliant!

I've probably listened to at least 10 of the Lucas Davenport books -- and plan to read them all. This seems be an awful lot of killing for Minneapolis, even in Lucas's world. The streets must have been running red with blood, the air black with lead powder from all the shooting. How many types of firearms must be deployed, how many magazines must be loaded, how many rounds must be discharged before the bad guys meet their violent end?

Live Wire succeeds where so many other series fail. By taking risks with his characters, Harlan Coben keeps them dynamic and fresh. A few are moving into new stages in their lives, making me wonder what lies ahead.

As a special treat, Big Cindy starts to come into her own as a character. The scenes and dialog featuring her and Myron are a delight -- and Steven Weber's narration does them proud. Nothing like driving to work on US 1/9 and the Polaski Skyway and finding myself laughing out loud in my car to brighten my day. Coben keeps his writing lean and the story on track. Excellent work from an author who is both a genuine talent and a professional -- not to mention a really funny guy.

Is it possible to give it more than five stars? Loved it loved it loved! Keep 'em coming Molly!

Seldom is a book so bad on so many levels. The plot is ridiculous, the writing is banal, and the dialog is pathetic. Joe is supposed to be a tough Navy Seal with New Jersey working class roots, but he babbles on like Ernest Borgnine "Marty."

I'm in it for fun and my ability to suspend belief is elastic, but this one sounds like it was written by a girl in junior high.

Fun, fabulous -- the best I've heard in a long while! Great characters, dialog, plot; funny, flirty, sexy and just plain fun!

This book is dark, depressing, and excessively gory to boot. Narrator Scott Brick does the work no favors. There is nothing subtle about his style -- his delivery is angry, harsh and like spitting without the saliva. If you're into anger and despair, this may be the book for you.

The narrator is terrible.

Couldn't make it past 15 minutes or so. Cliche ridden nonsense.

I didn't remember the book downloaded into 2 parts. I was in agony as I was nearing the end of the first part, thinking, "how can they possibly wrap this thing up in 31 minutes?" The description! So slow! I couldn't stand it. (It was also evocative of one of those Inspector Alex Dagliesh mysteries I had listened to on about 11 CD's ...). The second half really picked up.

Maybe the audiobook format particularly accentuates passages that the eye might have unconsciously scanned if the work were read in book form. I dunno. This one was SLOW.
