This is probably the best of the follow on novels. Nothing has ever lived up to the original.
Really enjoyed the story line and the author providing the story line from the dog's perspective. Plot not unusual but did feel a degree of anxiety as the story ended.
I read the original version when it came out. Don't remember the graphic sex scenes and if these were the cuts that were put back in the new version, I would like it better with out. I did like the other additions and did feel it made the book more cohesive.
As usual the book gets your attention quickly and Harlan writes such tight stories that it spoils other writers books. Can't put it down until your done.
Found this to be a much better second novel with the character than Brother Odd. Character development better. Really enjoyed it!
Too much of the authors philosphy of bleed. If you thought the author's book on New Orleans contained a lot of bleeding political philosophy, you will find this book may set a new record.
Not a bad read once you get past the political commentary.
This book spends entirely too much time glorifying New Orleans and blaming all its problems on the President, the Federal Goverment, etc. Story telling is good if you didn't have to listen to all the political diatribes.
Started quickly and kept going. Enjoyed a new character but this one has a lot of similarities to his previous character. Good plot.
Agree this is Ann's best book yet. A lot of information that I really want to remember. I'm re-reading because so much comes at you so quickly that you can't remember everything. Just like Ann it reads 100 miles per hour. Reader is excellent.
The reader is not the best I've heard, but Lew Wallace's story makes it worth the effort it takes. I think Wallace's writing style was somewhat stilted and would be difficult for anyone to read. But the story overcomes all. Don't miss it!
