    Which character – as performed by Jim Broadbent – was your favorite?

    Jim Broadbent does a perfect job narrating Harold. He's exactly what you would expect Harold to sound like.


    Was The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry worth the listening time?

    I suppose but I wouldn't listen again.


    Any additional comments?

    I found it hard to finish this book. I don't want to give away any of the details but as the book progressed I found Harold's pilgrimage more and more disheartening and frustrating to listen to. I'm glad I stuck with it to the end but I would never listen to it again.

    Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

    No. So much of this story is just explaining what happened in the first 3 books. I started out really enjoying this series but I don't think I'm going to listen to any more of them after this book. I'm so bored of everything being re-explained. Getting new readers of a series up to speed has been done much better in other YA books.


    Has The Necromancer turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No


    Did Paul Boehmer do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

    He does great voices/accents for many of the male characters. Like most male narrators he doesn't do a great job for the female characters.

    What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    A different narrator


    What didn???t you like about Stefan Rudnicki???s performance?

    His voice drones on and on making what should be an exciting story seem very tedious. I don't find it a good fit for a book that focuses mainly around two young boys.


    You didn???t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    The story is great! I highly recommend the actual story if you can handle the narrator.

    I'll admit this is well written and the narration is good but about a quarter of the way through I started to really dislike the main character. I listened all the way through and liked him less and less. By the end I was glad to be done with him. An interesting look a pre-communist China but I wouldn't listen to it again.

    This is one of the most original books I have listened to. At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy a story told by or narrated by a child but it was remarkably well done. I was also afraid the subject matter might be a bit depressing but it wasn't at all. Definitely worth the credit!
