This was a thought-provoking and enjoyable read. Scott Card admits that he took some liberties with the Biblical facts and you must know that going into the read. That said, it is interesting, exciting, and frames Sarah as an extremely important part of Abraham's journey through life.
Loved this book, would recommend. I have ready everything by Gladwell and love his work.
Good information and performance; would recommend. Reminds you how lucky we are to live in a first-world country.
This is a quick and fun read. I recommend it for a lazy weekend when you want to connect with great characters and feel good about the world. It does deal with heavy issues such as the Nazi occupation of Guernsey, but it frames it in the light of their current happiness and the ability to overcome hardships.
I bought this book because of all the positive reviews and recommendations but it turned out to be one of the most terrible books that I have read. It is difficult to connect with any of the characters, it expects you to empathize with journalists and millionaires, and it has explicit and violent rape scenes. The only interesting aspect is the murder-mystery, but that is not enough to justify reading this book.
