I've read quite a few books by Sophie Jordan that I really loved, so I'm sure I will. While I'm not about to go and look for books performed by Therese Plummer, I'm not going to skip a book because she's the reader.
It is possible that I would have liked this better if I had read the book instead of listened to it, but after devouring the first one, I found this one disappointing. The plot didn't feel as well thought out as in the first one. The love triangle plot felt a little forced and some of the events just seem random as opposed to plot driven, (for example - at one point a bear shows up which forces the main character to explain something to her hero that she didn't want to tell him making the confession feel unnatural at that juncture in the story). I'm generally a fan of Sophie Jordan (I've read a lot of her historical romances and some of her paranormal fiction) but this just didn't grab (never mind hold) my interest.
By "trigger-y", I mean that the experiences of the heroine made me a little uncomfortable and it was difficult at times for me to handle the brutal discussions/descriptions of what she'd been through. I don't think Banks handle things badly, however, if you're sensitive to issues of rape and sexual violence (especially to the extent this character experienced), you may want to reconsider.
I enjoyed the story and I liked the characters, but there was a lot of repetition of regarding everyone's feelings which make the book seem 20% longer than it needs to be. Also, I'm now really tired of the word "flesh".
These were were good stories for the most part. A few of them were a little slower than I'm used to with her, but I still really liked them. The only thing I really have to complain about is that I'm so very, very tired of the phrase "quintessentially (fe)male" because seriously, what does that even mean?
I love the paranormal-romance genre, but I that doesn't mean I love every book in the genre. This one, however, I thoroughly enjoyed. It had all the things I love: humor, action, a dominant hero, and some good (well balanced) smexy times.

This wasn’t a bad story and I actually ended up liking it better than I expected. It was sweet, occasionally amusing, and for something that was a short romance and nothing else, it was surprising lacking in trite. On the downside, the narrator was great for some of the voices, but many of his “female” voices grated on my nerves, pulling me out of the story. The real problem for me was that the characters were kind of forgettable, though I think that is in large part due to the brief nature of the story. I think to make the characters vibrant, the story would have had to have been longer, but sadly making the story longer would have made it too long to be enjoyable, at least not without more plot than what it had. In the end, I didn’t mind spending a few hours listening to it, but it won’t be one that I go back to or that stays with me in the long run.
Graffiti Moon pulled me in immediately and simply didn’t let go. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but Cath Crowley’s words painted a thousand pictures and then some.
I really enjoyed this story. While I'll say that Miranda's adventures do seem a little over the top, Harper handles each point in the story with humor and charm that make it easy to overlook the outlandish nature of some of the plot points.
This is the second or third performance I've heard from Ronconi and yet again I found myself not only enjoying the performance, but believing it. She handles the different voices very well and uses her performance to highlight Harper's humor and romance to the best possible advantage.
The story is pretty short (under six hours), but it is well worth a listen. I'm currently listening to it a second time and enjoying it no less than I did the first time.
I saw this book initially in my library and upon reading the description, I wasn't sure that I liked the preface. A cyborg Cinderella and moon-people enemies? Skeptical is the best description I have for how I felt. However, the reviews of this book were consistently high and I didn't have anything else I wanted to listen to at the time so I decided to give it a try.
This book surprised the crap out of me. The performance was excellent. Soler's reading really brings the story alive. Between the story and the performance I was blown away. It hooked me within minutes, the performance was fantastic, and I never wanted to hit pause on this story which was intriguing and often thought provoking. I was highly impressed and I'm very excited to see more from this author (this is her debut novel).
