Overall I enjoyed it, but I felt like I was listening to pages 300-500 of a 700 page novel. The author plunges right into the story (takes a while to figure how everyone is related) and then the story ends abruply. This is like listening to an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a story.
This book was so much fun! I couldn't wait to find excuses to listen to it. It's got all the humor of the Bridget Jones and Shopaholic books, but in this story, the main character begins the story in a happy relationship. There are so many unexpected twists and turns and lots of wacky characters that you won't get bored. I'm sorry that it's over!
The main character is sweet and has a beautiful philosphy of life. I've spent some time in Africa and found the descriptions interesting. However, the mysteries in this book were very predictable -- I found I could guess what was going to happen in every case. If you want a light novel where "the good guy wins every time," then you won't be dissatisfied with this.
