"Make sure you have time before you start"
Although the last two books by Child were under average, he's made a fair comeback with 61 hours. In my case, I don't describe his books as fast-paced, but I cannot put them down either. This one is no exception in that I finished it in two days. Well written and plausible in its own way, a little predictable although I miss more clues than Reacher of course. All in all I recommend it to everyone, especially his followers: you won't be disappointed.
"The shadows were too present"
Although the general thread is engaging with all its twists and turns, and has a reasonable ending, the final third was a let down. The Shadow World game, which is full of holes and does not add anything to the story, was too prominent towards the end. The bit where the Shadows are dancing in the night club is just awful. One wonders if the author has ever used a computer game.
"Great book, even greater narrator"
If you are into legal thrillers, you will like this audiobook. It keeps its pace throughout the 10 hours, and I was never distracted. If you don't, you should still try it, just to hear its superb narrator, which really does an excellent job, especially when putting different voices to the different characters. Don't expect though a rapid adventure novel with a thousand twists in the plot, there is only one smooth story line, but very well written and presented.
