If you're looking for a story that's big on non-stop action, or in which someone dies a gruesome death in the first 10 pages - this AIN'T it. If you're looking for something with great character development - people that you can empathize with: a story basically about how life goes on, regardless of how strange things get some times - this is definitely it. Not typical King, but a great read nonetheless.

Man I'm depressed!! I've been following the exploits of Roland since around 1982, and I've grown up and grown old(er) with Roland. It's sad to see Roland's tale come to an end, but I have to say that Stephen King, unwilling to let his and Roland's fans down, has produced a fine, well-written, exciting and comprehensive ending to this modern epic. Will it ever be considered in the same class as the "Trilogy of the Ring?" Who's to say? But I'd be willing to bet that, like the Trilogy, the story of the "Dark Tower" will be discovered by and enjoyed by readers long after we current readers have gone to "the clearing at the end of the path." Thank you Stephen King (and Roland) for adding so much enjoyment (and, at the end, a little sadness) to my personal life story!

A moderately un-funny and highly factually skewed work of semi-fiction. Other reviewers here cite Franken's "Havard Researchers," or "Harvard Graduate Students," which is to say that he enlisted the assistance of a bunch of spoiled college kids, whose thinking undoubtedly, ran along the same lines as his, before they ever began their "research." And, as anybody who works with "facts" and figures could tell you, information and numbers can be massaged to support just about anything you want them to support. Something that has been overlooked by most of the 5-star reviewers here is that Franken has been "called" on several of his supposed facts and assertions, and his response has been, "well, I'm a comedian, this is a satire and should be taken as such." Evidentially, some of the reviewers here don't take it that way, instead viewing it as the gospel according to Al. In summary, most, if not all of the reviewers here who rated this "book" highly, already had his/ her mind made up before he/ she ever strapped on the headphones and, to them, the REAL facts don't matter, unless those facts go to support his/ her already formulated opinion. I just think that it's a little sad that the best the left can do for a Messiah figure is a cut-rate, semi-washed-up comedian. But, if you're (far)left leaning, and in need of a little moral support, go ahead and read it - what can it hurt. Oh, and you have my sympathy.

It's obvious that reviewer "Tom" from from Vancouver, WA, hasn't read the book, but only left a ultra bad review to skewer the overall ranking for O'Reilly's latest effort, only because "Tom" apparently doesn't like O'Rielly. If he had read the book, he would have known that O'Rielly uses indisputable FACTS to back up his views. I can't say that I always agree with the opinions and advice that he draws from those facts, but his witty, well articulated, and well researched arguments make for entertaining, educational and enlightening "reading."
