"Very Long...But Amazing History"
I'm a big fan of Nelson Mandela and appreciate his incredible accomplishments and contributions to the South Africa and the world. However, let me warn you, if you are primarily interested in his experience in prison and afterwards this is not the book for you. That time in his life is only a small portion of the book. This book documents his life leading up to the more well known time in Mandela's life. Outstanding narrator!
"Great Story"
Love this book! This story had me captivated with the twists and turns of a well written story. Every time I went to put it down something would happen that made me want to continue. The narrators are fantastic and brought the story to life. I've heard different perspectives on the ending...but I thought it was appropriate.
"This is a must listen!"
Here is a classic example where excellent writing is paired with a marvelous narrator to create a remarkable experience. The Shadow of the Wind is a fantastic story that has many twists and turns as the main character unravels the truth regarding a famous author and his life. But the true star of this book is the narrator, Jonathan Davis. His voice and approach to this book carries you on a journey to the little Cemetery of Forgotten Books in 1945 Barcelona, Spain. This is one I could not put down.
"What a powerfully strong woman!"
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is an amazing woman who continues to provide an absolutely message by living a incredible life. She overcame such challenging situations and demonstrated the impact of following your passion and remaining steadfast to your beliefs. Outstanding listen.
"I loved it!"
I'm having a difficult time understanding the negative reviews of this book. I thought this book was better if not just as good as the Chopin Manuscript. I felt each chapter was well written and complimented each other wonderfully. In addition, Alfred Molina was outstanding as the narrator just as he was with the Chopin Manuscript. Yes the beginning introduced many characters. However, once you understand the players it is a thriller that keeps you engrossed until the very end.
"Good Political Listen"
Murder Inside the Beltway develops a story of murder and intrigue within a political backdrop. There are a few good twists and turns. The narrator takes some getting used to with his raspy voice. However, I would oonsider this a solid listen.
"Great follow up by Khaled Hosseini"
Another spectacular book from Khaled Hosseini. Where the Kite Runner focused on a friendship between males this is from a female perspective. This book incorporates a great story with real events in Afghanistan history. I'm so happy I listened to the book rather than read it. Khaled Hosseini authentic narration made me feel like I was revisiting a familiar area of the world. It also helped me fully understand the struggle women have at that time (and still today).
"Outstanding Listen"
One of the best books I've listened to. The story was outstanding and combined with the author doing the narration made the book come to life. I became emotionally invested in this book. Never before has a book touched me in such a strong way. Having the author narrate the book you were able to feel like you were there in Afghanastan. Everyone should listen and share the experience.
"Light Reading"
This was a very fun and light read. Not many twists and turns but still very funny satire. The book presents an interesting and accurate perspective of corporate america and especially the male dominated marketing world. Scott Brick adds to the quality of the writing with his outstanding narrator skills.
"Outstanding look at the Papacy"
This book provides a detailed look at the Pope and his family during the 15th century. The detail and complexity of the story leaves the reader continually wanting more. Puzo definitely made a successful connection between the power of the Pope and the Mafia. The narrator only added to the experience and intrigue. I doubt I would have liked the book as much if I read it myself. The narrator made me feel like I was watching dramatic Broadway play.
