The follow-up to Mark Lawrence' s thrilling debut novel Prince of Thorns, King of Thorns continues the tale of antihero Jorg Ancrath. After wresting back control of his kingdom from those who murdered his family, Jorg sees the land erupt with hundreds of battles fought by lords and petty kings. More daunting still, he faces an enemy many times his own strength. Jorg may not be able to win this battle in a fair fight, but he wields a rage and cunning that just might even the odds.

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

yes, great narrator, great author, interesting story

anything he writes is very enjoyable. Although his books can easily be read standing alone,
start from the 1st in the series to get the full treatment. Remember if there is one thing they say, it is to start at the beginning of the series.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

yes- I do not think i would have enjoyed this book nearly as much if I had read it. This was, at least for me, a very fun listen

What did you like best about this story?

    Flynn delivers.

    Any additional comments?

Really enjoyed listening to this book. Made the time pass and could not wait to hear the rest.
If you have read or listened to other Flynn books this is more of the same, and I mean that as a compliment.

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... Nothing is as it seems and everything’s fair game in this wickedly clever new novel from John Grisham, the undisputed master of the legal thriller.

I would pass, I enjoyed it somewhat, but was hoping it would get good. This author has given us great reads in the past, but this does not live up to his prior books.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

was not a big fan of the narrator, not bad, just not up to the level expected

    Any additional comments?

I really wanted to like this book. I found it ok and somewhat enjoyable, but felt that it just could have been better. He has done great work in the past and I look forward to his next one, which will hopefully be better.

His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....
