I love kate bornstein and was delighted to learn and love even more about her life. I hear wholeness, a whole person, not just a story of a man then woman, or scientologist and not. Funny, wrenching, beautiful, full.
First time listening to Alice rosenguard. At first I was missing Kate's voice but really felt Alice embodied her wonderfully.
Laughed and near cried.
No, I don't consider it better, more equal. In fact, I was unsure I wanted to change my experience of the book through an audio version at all. This is one of my favorite books that I reread often. I was very pleased with the audio edition. It surpassed my expectations and added a new layer to my experience.
The mysterious, vulnerable Gatsby.
His tone and expressiveness lends a great deal to Nick, our narrator. He was excellent, giving more shape and presence to Nick, but not in any overwhelming way.
Yes. I wasn't able to listen to it all at once but it was relatively short, and I was disappointed when it was over.
As I crossed into my 50s I began looking for support and resources for this next phase of my life. I was ready to make some major changes, including a new job in a new city, getting back to my writing and more. Just as I found Women Who Run With the Wolves helpful in my 30s, this book has been extremely inspiring and strengthening. I love hearing Clarissa's voice as well. Each story has something for me and I will return to this again.
I would listen to this again. The love story of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters is sweet, funny, honest, and true, like them. all the characters are so well done, they are real and people I want to know, even Peter Van Houten at his drunken moments. The story was important, not because these are people dealing with cancer, although that is important, but because they are so real. A true journey of heart and mind and miles.
This is the first time I listened to Kate Rudd and she was stellar. She captured the young adult tones of voice perfectly.
Many, here are two. When issac's girlfriend broke up with him and he is destroying Gus's trophies, and when Gus and Hazel kiss in the Anne Frank house.
I want to read An Imperial Affliction and go to Amsterdam.
This is a great performance of a great story. Gripping plot with a flawed and complex and likable character. A mystery within a mystery.
Rob and Cassie.
