Paranormal private eye. Grim reaper extraordinaire. Whatever. Charley Davidson is back in Darynda Jones' Third Grave Dead Ahead! And she’s drinking copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake because, every time she closes her eyes, she sees him: Reyes Farrow, the parthuman, part-supermodel son of Satan. Yes, she did imprison him for all eternity, but come on.

This is one of my favorite series. It is excellently written and narrated. You don't have to read the entire series but I would strongly recommend it. The characters are wonderful and very likeable. The story is interesting with enough twist and turns to keep you turning pages. The story itself is original and thoughtful. The narrator is perfect and brings everyone to life. If I could I would give it 10 stars. I can't say enough good things about this series and this book.

Freelance writer Jaine Austen has never been able to resist the siren call of an Eskimo Pie, just like she can't resist renewing her romance with Andrew, an old crush. With her bank account hitting new lows, she's also just agreed to write jokes for Dorcas, a stand-up comic who throws her pantyhose into the audience as a punch line. Not only is Dorcas' act a bomb, she is heckled by Vic, a gorgeous fellow comic. Naturally when Vic is murdered with Dorcas' pantyhose and that same Dorcas is standing over his dead body, the police arrest...Dorcas.

This was one of the best yet in the series. Not only was it funny, but well written and thoroughly engaging. As always, Jaine and her father get into all types of silly situations that made me gasp and blush with shame. I couldn't put it down. I'm hooked. I bought the next three books and will buy the rest of the series as well. I highly recommend this series. The narrator does a great job with the voices. Even though I don't like Prozac, I love the way Brittany Pressley brings her to life.

On the frontlines of the battle of the bulge, otherwise known as trying on bathing suits in the communal dressing room at Loehmann's, freelance writer Jaine Austen makes a new friend - a wannabe actress named Pam - and gets a new job: sprucing up Pam's bare-bones resume.

This is the best book of the series so far. It is funny, witty and clever. Jane takes after her father in that they both get involved in cringe worthy but funny situations. I laughed out aloud as I listened to this book. The murder mystery developed slowly but picked up and moved fast. There were lots of red herrings to prevent guessing the killer. The narrator did a good job with all of the voices. I would recommend Laura Levine to anyone who like cozy mysteries. I'm off to download the next book in the series.

If clothes make the man, then what do Jaine Austen's elastic-waist pants and T-shirts make her? A fashion nightmare, according to her neighbor, Lance. She doesn't expect Lance - who works in the designer shoe department at Nieman Marcus - to understand...which is how she ends up visiting his favorite boutique, Passions. While the couture is definitely not for Jaine, the staff's gossip is. Tiny orange-haired clerk Becky starts complaining about her co-worker Giselle - a.k.a. "Frenchie" - a brittle blonde who, when she's not making fun of customers behind their backs, adds extra-marital notches to her Chanel belt.

This is an entertaining and funny mystery. It has a quick pace with enough twists and turns to keep you interested. This is proving to be a funny series with great characters and witty dialogue. The mystery is light hearted and not very easy to figure out. I would recommend this book and series.

So when Beverly Hills socialite SueEllen Kingsley offers freelance writer Jaine Austen megabucks to ghostwrite a book of hostess tips, it's time to sharpen the #2s. But everything short circuits when Jaine finds SueEllen floating face down in her tub, fried by her own blow dryer.

Killer Blonde is the forth novel in the Jaine Austen Mystery series. Jaine is a great character. She's funny, clever and brave. The plot was entertaining and realistic and the pacing was fast with enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages. I really enjoyed the emails between Jaine and her parents. I wish Jaine would dump Prozac and get a nice dog. I look forward to the next book.

Christmas is just weeks away, but what Jacobia Jake Tiptree discovers at Faye Anne Carmody's house is far from festive: a dazed Faye Anne covered with blood. Her no-good husband, Merle--Eastport's butcher and least-liked citizen--is nowhere in sight. Nowhere, that is, until Jake finds his body--wrapped in his own butcher paper. It looks like an open-and-shut case, but Jake isn't convinced. Then another resident turns up dead, and Jake knows the trail doesn't begin--or end--with Merle.

Only Jake can jigsaw the clues into place - and she'd better do it fast, before a killer snares her in a trap she can't escape.
