This is one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time. Like Jacobia I was stumped as to the identity of the villain. I loved the family dynamics between Jacobia, Wade, and her ex husband. The narrator has a perfect accent for the region. She brings the story to life. I have read the previous three books and plan to read the next book as well. As long as Sarah Graves writes like this, I will read the entire series.

Accompanying her grandmother on a seniors tour of Switzerland, Emily Andrew had envisioned a vacation straight out of a travel brochure: spectacular scenery, great food, and a classy European hotel, all worlds away from her rural Iowa hometown. But her dream trip quickly snowballs into mayhem when smooth-talking tour escort Andy Simon is found dead. To be sure, Andy was as randy as a mountain goat on Viagra, hitting on every miss - Swiss or otherwise - within striking distance. His constant advances were driving Emily cuckoo - but had someone orchestrated his untimely death?

Nevada Barr quickly attracted the attention of mystery fans when her first Anna Pigeon mystery, Track of the Cat, appeared. Now she immerses the intrepid park ranger in a perilous search that will take her far below the waters of Lake Superior. As Anna spends her days patrolling its shores, the surface of Lake Superior fills with tourists. In the depths below lie an ancient ship and the bones of its sailors.

Though a magnet to tourists looking for some Southern comfort, the small lake town of Sutherton - tucked so picturesquely into the mountains of North Carolina - has had its fair share inexplicable hazards. But when Daisy Griggs siphoned three pints of blood from poor Mrs. Bradenham at the resort's annual blood drive... well, that seemed to take the cake.

This is one of the best series of mysteries that I have experienced. Maruerite Gaven is one of the best narrators if the best. She brought all of the characters to life and gave them voices suited to their personalities. Liam, Wy and the supporting characters are rich realistic well developed characters. I'm going to miss them and I wish there waere books to continue their story. If I could give them 10 stars I would.

This is a very good story but I don't think I will read anymore in this series. It is always Kate to the rescue. The men in this series seem weak and lazy. As strong and intelligent as Kate is, she seems to be a weak idiot when it comes to the lead male character Jack Morgan. She gives in to him in more ways than one. Kate calls everyone to the carpet and lives her life by her own rules but as a strong female character I find her lacking. Like I said. The story is good. The plot is full of well developed characters. I love the dog Mutt. Ever since I started reading these books I have been wondering if I can move to Alaska and become a wilderness woman.

Dane Stabenow gets a gold star for the latest addition of the Liam Campbell series. This story is the best yet. The characters are well developed and plot is fast paced and very entertaining. Stabenow showed her writing chops in this one. I plan to buy and start the next book today.

In this mystery series by Dana Stabenow, the Edgar Award-winning author returns to the Alaskan setting she's famous for, with a wonderful character - state trooper Liam Campbell. Liam's just been transferred from Anchorage to the small fishing village of Newenham, Alaska - where a local pilot seems to have lost his head.

The story started out fast and kept that pace throughout the book. I was happy that I was able to take this book everywhere. I bought the next book before I finished the first.

Marguerite Gavin does a great job bring Kate Shugak to like. Kate is a realistic and sympathetic character that I enjoyed reading about. The plot was strong and well developed as was the other characters. There was enough twist and turns to keep you guessing through out the book. I ususally read light and cozy mysteries and this was a bit darker. I spent an entire day listening to it. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries.
