When I ordered this book, I thought I was going to read a book about a strong intelligent female character that kicked butt, with the help of a demon. Instead, I got a weak female character who in real life would not have been the lead detective of a serial killer case because she lacked experience and intelligence. I know that sounds harsh but it is true and the character herself even believes it. Not only is she a novice detective but also a novice demon summoner, but yet she manages to summon a powerful demon lord and solve the case. Although the demon is interesting, he is too much of a cliche. He just so happens to find the character interesting so he doesn't kill her like all the others. Also, he wasn't summoned he just appeared. He then went on to stalk the main character. The plot moves along slowly and throws in graphic details of torture to shock and keep the reader interested. That didn't work for me. I think the author tried really hard, but she wasn't sure if she wanted to write urban fantasy or suspenseful thriller. I can't recommend this book to anyone.
This is an entertaining and fun book. I recommend it to anyone who likes mystery and paranormal books.
I've had enough of this series. I'm over the cheesy dialogue, the over done sex scenes and a little bit of violence to keep the plot moving. If J R Ward wants to write a romance novel she needs to learn that romance isn't hardcore sex and people declaring that someone belongs to them. Bring back Jane and V or Rhage and Mary. At the rate this series is going, I'm done.
This is the weakest book of the series. The"Long Game" is being drawn out. I think they should just get to it.
There are no words to describe how great this book is. It is quite possbly the funniest and most entertaining series around at this time. This is a must read book.
Rachel Morgan is an awesome character. I love the world that has been created for her as well as the supporting characters who are involved in the story. This is a great book and a great series.
This is one of the best books in the series. Sky, Wally and Simon are at their best. I can't wait until I read the next book.
Denise Swanson has kept this long running series fresh and interesting. Murder of the Cat's Meow is an entertaining and fun read. There were many twists and turns and lots of interesting characters. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone.
This is a very good book with great characters. The only thing I don't like is all of the name dropping. I've read all four books in this series and would recommend them to anyone who likes mysteries.
I enjoyed the fast pace and the characters in this story. Melanie is a likeable character who happens to be a general contractor. I like the way she pairs her masculine job with her frilly outfits. Mel is smart, strong-willed, funny and loyal. She works in a man's world and is able to hold her own. The ghostly aspects were well-handled and often very creepy indeed. This is a must read series. It a realistic mystery and interesting characters to make it a good read. Also, the setting of San Fransico and the historic homes make this series even more intersting.
I bought this book because I enjoyed the first 3 books in the series. They were funny, had recipes and involved a murder mystery. In this book, the mystery took a backseat to everything that happened. Chloe solves the murder but only because she overhears someone's conversation. This was more chick lit than a murder mystery. I'll read the next book, only because this one ended in a cliffhanger.
