IN A WITCH'S WARDROBE is a well-written, fast-paced supernatural cozy mystery with a little romance and a little action. I wish there was a little more romance for Lilly, but, perhaps that will be in future books. Lilly is slowly realizing what she is capable of and finding her place in San Francisco. The next book seems to offer more challenges for Lily. I can't wait.
I bought this book because I enjoyed the first 3 books in the series. They were funny, had recipes and involved a murder mystery. In this book, the mystery took a backseat to everything that happened. Chloe solves the murder but only because she overhears someone's conversation. This was more chick lit than a murder mystery. I'll read the next book, only because this one ended in a cliffhanger.
This book was full of cliches and followed the formula for all cozy mysteries. 1. Sleazy ex husband. 2. Best friend who blindly follows lead character into sleuthing. 3. Small town picturesque setting rich with gossip. 4. Sheriff who can't solve the murder. 5. Several suspects with flimsy motives. 6. Ex husband now has younger woman/bimbo. 7. Likeable characters. 8. The lead character has two men interested in her. The only thing this book did not have was likeable characters. The characters were stereotypical, flat and annoying. I have no problem with authors using a formula to write a book. However, when using a formula you still have to be creative. This was not a creative attempt. I will not buy the next book.
This book was a pleasant surprise and very good start to a new series. I look forward to listening to the next book in the series.
This is one of the best books in the series as well as a turning point for the lead characters. It is a most read for those who are invested in the series.
If it wasn't for bad luck, Mattie would have no luck at all. She and Hurley continue to figure out crimes and their relationship. However the crimes of Sorenson are no match to their relationship. This is a great read and I look forward to listening to the next book.
I enjoyed this book like I enjoyed the previous ones in this series. Mattie is realistic and likeable. Her romance/work relationship is realistic and tantalizing. I can't wait to read the next book.
This was an entertaining and enjoyable book. Mattie is an intelligent, realistic character who I would like to now in real life. The supporting cast are also people who are realistic and likeable. There were many instances when I either laughed out loud or hid my face in embarrassment. The scenes with Bjorn are funny and sad. They show another dimension of Mattie that only makes you like her more. I think this will be a great series and I look forward to the next book.
This series is very good. The character Samantha Moon is realistic as someone struggling to be to different people or beings. Samantha is becoming less human as the books continue. But in trying to hold on to her humanity, she is a better vampire. This book brings further character development to Samantha and the other main characters. It also implies that it is building up to a big finally. I only wish J R Rain would write longer books so we can get to the big finnish. Stringing me on like this is cruel.
It was better than the last but still a bit unrealistic. My favorite line from the movie was: Bucky: How do you get involved in all of the intrigue around here? That pretty much sums up what annoys me with this series. I think I will read the next book when I have run out of other books.
This might be one of the best books in the series so far. It's the perfect blend of a ghost story and a very clever mystery. It also has interesting and likable characters. I especially enjoyed Mel's blossoming relationship. This is a great series and I look forward to the next book.
