It was short but it kept me going for the 1 1/2. Its more then I can say about some other short stories. That where short on the story. I'll keep in on my stacks.

So l thought this was going to be one of those harlequin novels...Look at the cover. I would consider maybe changing the cover. I think that the only reason I even gave it a chance was that it was free. Thanks for Valentines day email Audible.

This short story was great. The main character Tess Maitland is a Chef from Chicago, who goes crazy and needs to take some time off. She spends some time down south and ends up sharing a home with a Vampire. Just like Edward Cullin.

This is a great story. Forget the cover and give it a chance you will love it.

I got a ton of mixed messages from the other reviews. I wasn't sure if I even wanted to keep going with the series. I'm glad I did.

While I now understand some of the other reviews, I understand why some people where a bit disenchanted with Speaker of the Dead. Everyone was expecting this to be the next chapter in Enders life. But like another famous boy we all know ...Jesus Christ, we only got to know Ender Wiggins as a child.

In Speaker of the Dead, we fast forward to Ender as an adult, just like Jesus and his missing years. There are a ton of unanswered questions. No Ender didn't become a carpenter. Instead he became a Speak of the Dead. Basically, he was a homicide detective. He gave a voice to the dead. Oh I almost forgot. There's a twist.. Speaker of the Dead takes place 3000 years after the bugger war. Your probably thinking that Ender was a human being and how the heck is it possible that he's still around 3000 years later and he's only 30'ish.

Answer: Einstein's Theory of special relativity. Basically, if a person can travel at or close to the speed of light. For every year they travel, 100 years would pass on earth or something like that. So basically Enders been traveling the universe through time.

So after 3000 years Ender is no longer a hero, he's now basically like Hitler. After the war ended and time passed. No one named their kids Hitler and no one named their kid Ender. He was that hated. ...People are so ungrateful, he saved the world and now he's like Hitler. Earlier I said he was like Jesus. What a fall for Ender. Luckily by the end of the book Ender is able to reconcile what he did to the Buggers to a small community on the planet of Lusitania.

I will warn you that the story starts out a bit slow but its a slow and solid build to the story of Ender Wiggin aka the Speaker of the Dead.

This my first OSC book. Apparently this is an old story, OSC first wrote a short story in 1977, and developed it into a novel in 1985. And in November of 2013 it's being released in theaters.

This book reminds me of a movie starring Kurt Russell, "Soldier" released in 1998. A soldier raised from birth to follow orders. In Russell's movie, he becomes obsolete after serving his planet and is replaced by a newer and better model.

In Ender's Game, Andrew "Ender" Wiggins, is recruited at an early age of 5 years old to learn the ways of war. Similar to the way Roman boys where trained to serve Rome. Considering that OSC, Enders Game pre-dates Solider. The guy who wrote that movie must have read Enders Game when he was a kid and the movie had to inspired in spirit by OSC.

I love the fact that each character is well developed, there are so many of them that its easy enough to relate to one or two of them. Some of the other reviews said that this was a great series and as successful as Harry Potter. I just downloaded the Second book in the series. But if OSC is able to do repeat what he did in Enders Game then, expect to see a 4-5 movie series.

If your thinking of getting this book, you won't be disappointed.

This was a great listen. John Scalzi and Wil Wheaton do it again. The dynamic duo pull off yet another favorite for me. A keeper.

This book fun and imaginative, Thomas Stein the books main character is a Hollywood junior agent who's world in turned inside out and upside down. He's tasked with taking on the biggest client he'll ever have.

The story is well written, I just wish that it wasn't so short, I dreaded the end after listening to the first few chapters. I was enjoying myself as the story moved along and hating that it was going to be over in 10 hrs.

If you have enjoyed Scalzi/Wheaton as a team, then you'll love this.

This was actually a great book. Its amazing that companies can be built on the idea of giving everything away for free. But really nothing is free.

This book while free to me was probably paid for by some internet company probably Google. The book should be called how Google gives everything away for free and became the largest company in human history.

As I write this. The information I provide is collected and sold to companies. They now know a little bit more about my likes and dislikes. That knowledge while worthless to most people, is collected on the internet and sold. Google is the largest information collection agency in the world. Amazing that billions and billions of dollars are made each year from the "1`s" and "0`s" collected on the internet.

Nothing is free, but if you don't mind having some of your information out there, its probably not a big deal. The alternative is that your information is still out there, short of living off the grid. So enjoy what ever you can and careful because nothing is truly free.

Give this a chance, just when you think you already know the story. Elijah Wood delivers a spectacular performance. The story has not been butchered. This story is as Twain intended, with the political correction movement, this story was at risk of being cleaned up. The story uses language that we may not use and like. But I liked the fact that it was used by Twain to represent a time in our past that we are not proud of. I'm glad that it was not white washed. I hate watching a movie that was edited for television. Its just not the same.

So I appreciate this old story for what it is. The characters seemed authentic as people. Huck Finn is a good leading character, innocent and on the side of what's right. Willing to do what he needed to do during a time when it was a lot easier for him to fall in line.

give this story a second chance and you'll see that you'll want to go back and listen to the entire collection.

I really enjoyed this story from the beginning to the end. Scalzi made some creative changes from the original. In the original Jack Holloway was a simple prospector and Scalzi made him into a more youthful and more enjoyable character with a sense of humor. I enjoyed Carl, Jack's faithful 4 legged friend who enjoys using explosives.

The "Rip off" was like an episode of Law and order. It got me thinking what if a superior beings came to Earth, would they think that we where just simple animals and treat us like we treat animals?

John Scalzi did a great job keeping with traditional story by H. Beam Piper. I was easy to listen and appreciate the original story from 1962. 51 years later John Scalzi brought a great story back from the dead. I would never have had a chance in finding the orginal had it not been for the "Rip off"

Tess. I'd hope that if anything like this happened. To someone I know. I'd hope that they would get the closure Tess got. Plus this story plays out where I live. So this story seemed a bit more real. I live in Springfield Mass just a few minutes from Chicopee Mass and Connecticut where Tess lives. So I felt it was close to home sort of.

I heard Stephen Kings 11-22-63. Craig Wasson was the reason I got this title and of course Stephen King. What happened in each of these stories bothered me and I don't think I want to listen a second time. I have a wife and I can't help but to picture her in these situations. So I won't listen again.

The stories made worry about the women in my life. I couldn't help but to think of her when I listened and it bothered me a bit. These stories where a bit graphic and I can't say that I've had such a reaction to a story. But I guess that what Stephen King does best. I'm sure there are a ton of people who would love it. I liked it the first time around but not going to take it for a second trip.

Big driver and his family got what they deserved.

Top five this year. Scalzi does it again. He's a great futurist.

Brian Javna is my favorite character. I like the idea of becoming an A.I . Computer based on a real person. I think that would be great.

Wil Wheaton does a great job. I first heard Ready Player One, which brought me to The Androids Dream and then to Red Shirts. Something about Wesley Crusher telling you about the future is pretty cool.

If I had the time to listen to it in one sitting yeah. I would have knocked it out. I usually listen on my drive to work. Two hours each day. But then I got a promotion and now I'm 10 minutes from home. Now I regret not having such a long drive.

Scalzi's words and Wil Wheaton's acting what a team.

Never read the actual book. But the audio book was a great listen. I find that listen to an audio book engages the imaganation more then reading it. After all your brain is engaged in creating the characters, scenery and environment.

I really enjoyed that moment where the future and our realty conveurg. I think that most sci-fi nuts would love to think that this could happen. Scalzi put together a story and characters that you find yourself caring for at the end. I found myself wanting to know more about the characters in 2012.

There where several scenes I enjoyed but my favorite scenes had to be when the crew from the Intrepid met the cast of the Cronicals of the Intrepid.

I experienced extreme disappointment that it had to end. This is a keeper and I will certainly listen to this one over and over.

So far I've experienced two of Scalzi`s works this one and Androids Dream. I think this guy has a direct link into my imaganation.
