Of course the story line. It is not the 'usual' historical novel. I truly enjoyed the whole story. I think what made the book even better...was the narrator. Top notch in all his characters. He is now my favorite narator for sure. I plan to listen to the whole series.
Matthew was my favorite character.
When Matthew and Rachel are in the Indian camp. But there were so many favorites.
At the end when Matthew and Rachel were saying goodbye and also the times where Matthew stood up for his principles.
I have to say I was hesitant, but I am very happy that I did listen to this book. As I said in the beginning...wow.
I can't compare because I did not read the print book. But, the audio version is wonderful. Although I wouldn't mind having a print copy to read on a cold winter day/night. This book would be enjoyed in both audio and print.
I think I liked best the fact that Danny's story from a little boy took him to a grown man and how he battled his 'own demons' and went past them.
He truly brought the characters to life for me. I have never listened to an audio book read by Patton, althoug know him from TV and the movies. I was truly very pleasantly surprised and pleased at what a fabulous job he did with all the characters.
I was 100% happy with the story and the reading. This one will be listened to over and over. Great job by King and Great job by Patton.
I loved the audio version and did not read the print version.
The emergence of the characters...either for the good the bad or the ugly.
When Swan forgives 'Friend'.
I did not laugh or cry...but I was very moved by the characters.
I was a bit leary....but after I got into listening I became very involved with the characters and loved the whole book. If you enjoyed the concept of what could/would happen if we had a nuclear holocaust as in Stephen Kings The Stand, you will totally enjoy this book.
