I was alone in a strange town in a hotel room when I started to listen to the tale of the haunting of Maddy Clare read by Pamela Garelick and I found myself falling into a mesmerizing and complex ghost story, The tale is an old one of a ghost seeking justice - but Pamela Garelick's performance brought out the heart stopping terror of the ghost of Maddy Clare. Maddy is not a kind and friendly ghost, she is complex and full of anger and demands. So, turn down the lights, light the fire and enjoy a traditional haunting Gothic ghost story.
I have never been a reader of romantic fiction, but I picked up Flowers from the Storm on an Audible sale. I started listening to this wonderful complicated story and fell into the characters with great joy and had to listen to complete book in one weekend. The Duke's struggle was so very real especially listening to him struggle to get out each word. It is well worth a credit.
This main character is this novel is not the brightest girl in literature. I found her character boring and irritating. The best concept are her Uncles - but they only appear in side pieces and are never fully developed. I was very disappointed in the book.
I discovered this series as a Kindle download and while it is not a great piece of literature - I loved the characters and the setting. I guess I am a sucker for the old "your life is in the toilet when you suddenly find out you are the son of the #1 mystery writer in the USA and you have inherited her estate and are now fabulously wealthy and have wonderful friends and a good murder to solve" plot. But, seriously if you need a little cozy this is just plain old fashion fun. I do hope Audible will get the full series.
I am so delighted to find a new series that I am truly enjoying. I do recommend reading The Last Kashmiri Rose before listening to Ragtime in Simla. I am finding that reading the books in order as the history of British India are key to the integral plots and characters. Joe Sandilands is a wonderful and admirable hero and the images and culture of India are outstanding. If you enjoy a historical based mystery with a touch of romance I highly recommend getting to know Joe Sandilands. The narrator is excellent.
I stopped listening after only about 10 minutes into the book. I have been a member of audible for many years and I have had books that disappointed me, but this book is terrible. The writing is from high school and the performance is from a first year acting class. Though a first year acting class may have been better. In short do not waste your time, your money or a credit.
I purchased Tilt A Whirl over two years ago and I had not listened to it until last night. What a wonderful surprise. I started about 9pm and I was awake till the end. Ceepak is a wonderful hero - a true honest good-guy. Tilt A Whirl had wonderful moments of humor and amazing characters, but also a serious heart-breaking family tragedy. The narrator is excellent and I agree with others - do not let him go! I will be picking up other titles in this series.
This is a wonderful joyous celebration from an outstanding actor. I have always enjoyed Ms. Spacek and I truly enjoyed listening and learning about her life's journey. The stories of her early childhood in Texas are delightful and heartwarming. Her Hollywood tales provide insight and a laugh as she discovers her acting instrument and the love of her life. May we all be blessed with an extraordinary ordinary life.
What joy one more Lord Peter story. If I could have one author added to audible it would be Dorothy Sayers. The Lord Peter novels were the first recorded books I checked out of the library and I was hooked. Please bring Dorothy Sayers and Lord Peter titles to Audible.
I read Watership Down when it first was published and I have memories of truly enjoying this tale of rabbits and their daily life and struggle. I purchased WD on sale and I am delighted with this excellent presentation. The story is thrilling and the characters are charming, intelligent, strong and captivating. I highly recommend this excellent both for book and narrator.
