"Narrator speaks at double speed without pauses…"
Uncertain.
Still trying to get through the story.
Doubtful. The narrator read clearly enough, but did not pause at all between sentences with various characters talking. Conversations sound like one big run--on-sentance that is difficult to tell who is talking. This is so frustrating, that I find it hard to believe the book was produced this way at all.
This is perhaps the 30th or so audio book I have listened to from Audible, and I never imagined this style of reading was out there. I will have to listen to the previews for every book now just to make sure I don't get another poor reader like this again.
"Slow start, but excellent story with amazing depth"
First time.
No.
An amazing look into the life and times of old England's lower class and poor.
This book begins slowly. This is a very long story with most of a lifetime taking place within. The conclusion is one in which I wanted to cheer out loud. Such is the connection with some of the characters and my desire to se justice and just deserts give out to all.
I should also mention that there is a considerable amount of foul language contained within this story. The "F" bomb is dropped well over a dozen times. If you, like me, prefer a story that can be heard by the younger members of the family, without having to pause and apologize for the language, then you may want to think twice about purchasing this story.
"Too much swearing."
Decent story. Could have been so much better without the profanity.
Clean up the language.
Good reader.
Uncertain.
The story was well written. If the language was a lot cleaner, I would buy the next book in the series. I can't, in good conscience, listen to another story in this series with the amount of "F Bombs" dropped in this book.
"Excellent story... a bit heavy on the swearing."
The story was solid. The technology was very well described, but not mired down in so much technical babble that the listener was lost. The characters were great.

Couldn't wait to hear what was going to happen next. At least 3 distinct story lines running in the book. They are all working toward the dame goal, victory, and they were written so well that it was easy to transition between each one as the chapters changed.I immediately purchased and downloaded the second book in the series. For those of you who, like myself, cringe when hearing profanity or taking the Lord's name in vein, this book has lots of both. fair warning. That is the only reason I rated the story 4 stars instead of 5.
"Way too much gratuitous profanity!"
Every time the female deputy speaks, there is at least one swear word used and often times many in a single sentence. This was ABSOLUTELY unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the story other than to make me wonder how this person would keep a job without offending co-workers.I will not listen to another book by this author without full assurance that the language has been cleaned up significantly.
The VOICE WAS AMAZING. The main character was an older Sheriff ready to retire soon. George Guidall's voice was clear, strong, and matched the imagined age of the Sheriff perfectly. His style of speech was also spot on.
The female deputy!!!! If not cut her, redact most of her parts. That would just about clean up her language to a point where I could listen without cringing.
The main characters were well written, with lots of depth and back story. I really enjoyed getting to know them and walking several miles in the Sheriff's shoes.
While the mystery moved at a fairly slow pace, the book wasn't bad. I have to rate the store so low because the profanity ruined it for me.
"Light, and fun."
Yes. The book was easy to follow with little in the way of a deep plot. The main character was a cross between Han Solo and Born Looser. You just had to laugh at times and wonder how this person ever survived long enough to reach adulthood. This is also his charm and quickly becomes a much liked, if no loved, character in the book.
No, this was the first. Very well read, easy to follow.
A great tongue-in-cheek story with very lovable characters. How often do you absolutely enjoy waiting to hear what the bounty hunter (bad guy) will say next?
I rated this story 3 starts since it was a one time listen with no real depth to it. It passes the time well... but I will most likely not listen to it again any time soon. That being said, I gave it three stars with a lack of depth because it made me laugh and smile several times.
"Thoroughly enjoyable."
This is one that I will listen to again in the near future. Really enjoyed it.
I haven't listened to any Zombie stories before, but this one caused me to laugh out loud on several occasions. The writing is wonderful, and the humor is unmissable. If you enjoy a good story with difficult situations that need to be solved, the occasional creative use of tactics, and a great survival story, than this is a good story and worth listening to.
