After losing his leg to a land mine in Afghanistan, Cormoran Strike is barely scraping by as a private investigator. Then John Bristow walks through his door with an amazing story: his sister, the legendary supermodel Lula Landry, famously fell to her death a few months earlier. The police ruled it a suicide, but John refuses to believe that. The case plunges Strike into the world of multimillionaire beauties, rock-star boyfriends, and desperate designers, and it introduces him to every variety of pleasure, enticement, seduction, and delusion known to man.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Cuckoo's Calling to be better than the print version?

    I listened to audio only

What did you like best about this story?

Reading this was kind of like watching the Social Network because I liked it, but I couldn't tell you why. *continued below in question 4

What does Robert Glenister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    English accent

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

*Continued from above in question 2Yet, also like watching the Newsroom because the same thing happened every chapter, nothing. For the most part. The ending wasn't fun to listen to. It seems like the author didn't know who was guilty until the end so she had to piece everything together herself and get her shit straight first. Then she said, fuck this I'm done. And made her cuckoo map the last four chapters. And not in a pretty little liars way. More like the essay portion of the SAT's when I had to somehow connect the plot of Mean Girls to a strong commitment to technological progress.

    Any additional comments?

Listening to an Audiobook doesn't count as reading? Relax, Richard III, it's called multi-tasking. You should try it sometime.

Would you listen to Vanity, Vengeance and a Weekend In Vegas again? Why?

Not for a few years. But I would watch mini-series. I've reread some of Davis's other books from this series that I hadn't read for some time.

What other book might you compare Vanity, Vengeance and a Weekend In Vegas to and why?

It has the sass of Suits (USA) and the character development of 30 Rock (NBC) on top of a sexy suspenseful plot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, I was thoroughly entertained throughout.

    Any additional comments?

Great from start to finish, excited for the next one. I highly recommend the series.
