Martin Gollery should NEVER narrate, ever. How the heck did the robot voice from the answering machines from the '90 get the longest book in the series?
I like the story line, I really do. I don't like Mayer's tendency to explain away God and religion. I would say this is the most frustrating thing about all his stories. That being said, it is otherwise a good story. So, yes.
All of it. He is a terrible narrator, the worst I have ever heard.
The bickering. The douchiness of Ethan. It was all too much.
Ethan. He is a douche bag. It is really hard to listen to a book when you want to shoot the main character.
I couldn't even make it through 2 hours. I had to stop. If I could return this book I would. Is this supposed to be a trashy soap opera? Because that's what it felt like.
The book is a typical zombie story. The main character, Ethan, is a douche bag. If the zombie apocalypse actually happened, his companions would shoot him. The author did very little research on things she is writing about. For instance, she mentioned having a gun registered several times. They live in Tennessee, there is no gun registry in Tennessee.
He did a fantastic job with the characters. Christian Rummel is a top notch narrator.
Overall this book was just ok. It was basically a guy being a douche bag to people while running form zombies.
Teens would enjoy it more than adults.
The concept of the series I find interesting. I think it is poorly developed. The only reason I listened to the last book is because I suffered through the others. I suppose it's not THAT bad, not Twilight bad.
The narrators were not the worst ever, but not by any means good. It sounds like they are both 12. Very little attempt was made to differentiate between characters.
Irritation. I am so sock of gay being crammed down out throats. I knew there a couple of gay characters but this time she really turned up the gay. The relationships in this book were all very complicated and crossed all the lines of the culture Clare created, she did not need to throw gay on top of all the other complications. It was just too much. Its as if authors society, TV, music and science fiction authors are trying to force everyone to be "OK with gay". I'm just sick of.
I wont read another book by Clare. Not just because of the force fed gay, but because she just isn't that good of an author.
Maybe. I don't know. About two thirds the way threw it went from space opera to spy novel, and a boring spy novel at that.
The story just doesn't flow. Huge things happen that get very little explanation and really little things happen that last entire chapters.
He would pause at odd times and he sounded like he was taking a dump, he had to push the words out. It was really weird.
It was an interesting idea, poorly executed though and very unbelievable.
The story is a good one. It is very well thought out and written.
Pretty much anyone else could have done better. He isn't the worst I've heard but he's pretty close. He pauses in the middle of sentences and sometimes words. His pronunciation of some words is down right irritating. For instance, he pronounces "again" as "a-gAne" with a long "A" who does that? My personal pet peeve is "nuclear", he pronounces it as "nu-ku-ler", like George Bush. There's only ONE "U"!!!
Its an excellent story poorly narrated, but not so poorly that I wouldn't endure him to hear the second and third books.
I like this story. It has such great potential. It would be so much better if the good guys would get a W everyonce in a while. Also I'm getting really tired of every author now feeling the need to insert homosexual propaganda.
Yes. I will give the series one more chance when the next book comes out. It is a really good story with great potential. But only ONE more. If all the good guys die again and the homosexual propaganda is too much i will stop. The second book only had one short scene, if thats all then i will let it go.
Fred Berman is a fantastic performer. You could tell who the characters were by his varrying voices. He is among the best i have heard.
I would have cut the homosexual make out session.
Mark continues to deliver great action packed with humor.
There a few scenes where Mike and BT demonstrate their bond of friendship forged with laughter and blood. Great friends complete family, Mark does a fantastic job illustrating this.
The most frustrating part of the book is the end, the end of the book could have easily been the end of a chapter.
Mark continues to deliver a great story, with lots of action and lots of humor. Each chapter leaves you eager to hear what comes next just as the end of the book leaves you mad as hell at Mark and searching the internet for rumored book 8 release dates!
Its a good story. Through out the series Bob Mayer makes several technical mistakes, ie. F-16's cant take off from an aircraft carrier, the Pave Low is an MH-53, not an HH-53, there were many others, you would think a guy who used to be a green beret would know these kind of things. However this is something I can live with, its still a good story. I don't like how the author seems to minimize religion.
Those are only the MINOR issues over come by a good story line. You remember the robot voice from the '90's answering machine, I would rather have that thing read the book. This guy has to be the worst narrator EVER!!
