the narrator has to work on her male voices, other then that she was ok. the book is an uncomplicated easy listen, and the story gets a B for creativity. If you are interested in a relaxing feel good romance this is the book for you.
I wish it were longer. This was a happy romance about a young woman determined to control her own destiny. It was funny, never was there a dull moment and performed by one of my favorite narrator's.
To much talking. I found it easy to put down but easy to pick up again. It dragged in a lot of places. I found the voice for L irritating, other then that the narrator did a good job. The story was good enough so this should have been a great book. I found both the hero and heroine whiney. TOO BAD.
Great book, I couldn't put it down. Fast pace, exciting and romantic. I loved everything about it. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series. The narrator was also great, she did the men's voices as good as the woman's and her pronunciation of the words and fast reading added to the excitement of the book.
I'm used to more action and faster pace from Julie Garwood. The story line was great if it had just moved along faster and had more action and less talking. I normally don't like male narrator's. I fined they have loud and gruff voices. I like to be relaxed and soothed when I listen and men usually do terrible impressions of women. This narrator, however, did a fine job with the female voices and also had a soothing tone to his voice. My only complaint was his so called Scottish brogue, he sounded more like a Viking or Russian.
This was book 6 of one of the best series I've read. I hope there is a book 7. It had action, suspense, excitement and romance. I couldn't put it down. It tied in with the characters from the other books, and I loved them all. On top of all that the narrator did a great job, I especially like her voice for William Wallace.
This book was no where near as good as books 2 & 3. There was no adventure or excitement until the end. I had to back up a lot to see who was talking, mostly because the narrator had no voice pitch differences between the male and female characters and when they switched from one to another I couldn't tell at first. I will say The ending was great, it almost made up for the rest. ALMOST BUT NOT QUITE.
Not as good as RETURN OF TH E ROSE but it kept my interest just the same. It was a good read.
If your looking for a book about war time flashbacks or post traumatic syndrome I guess you would like this book, it jus t wasn't my idea of a highlander romance.
This story had so much potential, unfortunately it fell on its face immediately. While it is true men are stronger than woman, 8 men against 200 woman don't stand a chance. The heroine (if you could call her that) should have shone the strength and cunning of a woman who had been raped and escaped to an Island that grew to a population of 200 independent woman. Instead this female pirate meekly let herself and 200 woman ,all of whom supposedly had been abused by men, become dominated by 8 men. The woman were portrayed as witless inept creatures who needed to be saved by men. These women couldn't even get these men to finish the act of sex in order for them to become pregnant, (are you kidding me?)
The narrator was overly dramatic and very theatrical but I got used to her. In spite of her antics I gave this book a big thumbs up. I couldn't put it down, this was a fast paced action packed time travel love story with a fairytale ending that brought tears to my eyes. Ok call me overly Sensitive but I loved it.
