In this book Jack and Jade finally seem to be real characters and more teens then in the previous books. Saddly the solution to the mystery is pretty clear if you read book one. The biggest change in this book is that Jack and Jade start to try to clearly by themselves decide things. They are less children and more teens in this book. Jack and Jade meet people who aren't Evil and aren't pre-vented by Grama-X; they make good and bad choices and not all the choices are made for reasonable reasons. The only thing I could have wish was that the cat's Arty and Cleo had a bigger role. I really rather liked them . Yes finally Garth Nix seems to pulled the characters together into something much much better.

It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

I enjoy the story;the magic system was reasonable; I enjoy the characters - what I felt was missing was an actual end to the book. The cover is quiet right if you are looking for a new series with a similar feel to Wheel of Time then this likely a good choice. Epic reborn immortal character with no memory; a great deal of power and no idea what the goal is - to order; strong and powerful magics locked up - little different twist but check; prince of the realm - also check; good narration also good. But it does also have that somewhat drifting feel that means the author is in really no hurry to achieve or enlighten. My idea of a good series would be the Cast in Shadow --- the books are connected but also have actual endings.

Micheal Kramer performance is top notch. I pretty sure I made through the book in large part because he read it.

This time last year, I could go weeks without seeing another mage. In mage society I was an unknown and, all in all, that was how I liked it. It’s hard to say what changed. Whatever it was, I got involved in the magical world again and started getting myself a reputation.

Of all the Terry Pratchett books I find my myself re-reading this the most often. It's about: being professional without being preachy; about see the good that all your "thankless" work does and about getting out of your world and see some elses.

All of this and you feel glad you read the book.

My only minor complaint is the recording has a minor hiss which on really good gear is rather noticeable.

Almost anyone who has read or written science fiction or fantasy has been inspired by the work of Michael Moorcock. His literary flair and grand sense of adventure have been evident since his controversial first novel Behold the Man, from the stories and novels featuring his most famous character, Elric of Melniboné, to his fantasy masterpiece, Gloriana, winner of both the Campbell Memorial and World Fantasy awards for best novel.

I really wanted to enjoy this story - I had found Inkheart series pick up after the author in the first few chapters got listing books out her system and set down the story. Yet when I got to Chapter 7 and the author had provided about 1 and half chapters of story and the rest backdrop and lists of books and music I decided that was more then I was willing to wait through. As for the story it appears to be a copy of Neil Gamin's Neverwhere and inkheart onle with list of books before you move forward another step.

Alex Verus is part of a world hidden in plain sight, running a magic shop in London. And while Alex's own powers aren't as showy as some mages, he does have the advantage of foreseeing the possible future-allowing him to pull off operations that have a million-to-one-chance of success. But when Alex is approached by multiple factions to crack open a relic from a long-ago mage war, he knows that whatever's inside must be beyond powerful.

    Story

This is the type of story I like best - well written characters - with the center figure like able and if a little slower then me rather good company. This is an adventure well written - not a growing story or a morel or horror but fun and exciting. The story is original and even the author admit at one point you likely already worked this out but on the plus side not that much before the character.

This isn't a childern story but likely a older child (grade 6-7) would enjoy it; it not a teen story but if the teen isn't look for a sex story then they would enjoy too.

The book is modern enough to have a few pass reference to more popular books but nothing that is more important that the length of the paragraph. In many way I liked it much better then those book anyway.

    Worth it's very high rating.

Narrator Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

I won't comment on the book. I not really sure I enjoyed the story but I understand why it is deemed a classic.

The reader is very enjoyable. Frankenstein and the Monster are read so completely differently that it is jarring to return to Frankenstein. I bought this one on sale and I believe this edition frequency is the one selected to be on sale. It still every good.

Nothing is really wrong with this book- the plot is predicable but not too baddly; the characters are reasonable and the magic system has a some level of logic (for whatever that worth). I even wanted to know how the author would unfold the story yet nothing really made me enter the world. IT was just a story. I think another might enjoy it yet it had no link to me.

Kaylin returned from the West March in one piece. Now that piece is fraying. She's not at home in the Imperial Palace - and she never intends to be. All she wants is normal garden-variety criminals and a place of her own. Of course, normal in her new life involves a dragon as a roommate, but she can handle that. Kaylin can't as easily handle the new residents to the city she polices, because one of them is Nightshade's younger brother. On a night when she should be talking to landlords in perfectly normal buildings, she's called to the fief - by Teela.

This is book ten - if you liked the previous 9 books this will be just as enjoyable. If not then start with Cast in Shadow. There are a few inconsistent with the previous books but they are very minor. I really love how this series is able to continue to expand without need to "develop" new rules or myths to keep the books good.

The Greek word sumposion means a drinking party (a fact shamefully ignored by the organizers of modern symposia), and the party described in Plato's Symposium is one supposedly given in the year 416 BC by the playwright Agathon to celebrate his victory in the dramatic festival of the Lenaea. He has already given one party, the previous evening; this second party is for a select group of friends, and host and guests alike are feeling a little frail.

I am trying to read a collection of books at the moment which given I have a History Degree people seem to feel I should have read. I apporch this book from having taken a couple of second university courses in Greek rule of Egypt and Rome history.

If you are fimilar to with the content then let me say the reader is good and the pace light.

For those like me who don't know about the content then it is rather different then the modern view of many things. If you have strong views on gay taken child to as lovers I suggest you skip this book. It is written from the view that gay sex is the correct and normal course for man. It is interesting to have couples viewed from a different gender normal.
