Arranged marriages seldom happen in modern America, so Daisy Devreaux hates her father's ultimatum: marry the humorless man he has picked for her, or go to jail. It's not much of a deal for Alex Markov, the prospective groom, either. He's got no time to indulge an uptown girl. So Alex puts Daisy to work in his traveling circus, expecting the harsh realities will break her. Instead, he finds she's got heart enough for both of them.

I really enjoy Susan Phillips books. this is a classic one. A little over the top with the "arranged" marriage but the circus theme is very funny. the people developed by the author are just great

I listened to this story-- I really like Nathan -- the story shows the author really does not know girls and it shows in the way he portrays her. It was little soap opera—a niece and now a sister –
Nathan shows he can get the job done even with an 11 year old girl in tow
    Not much Harve.

In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

His task: to protect the CEO of the world's largest bio-technology company from a group of radical, and highly determined, activists. But when a failed assassination attempt leaves the streets of midtown littered with bodies, and hours later the son of the company's chief research scientist is abducted from his Upper West Side prep school, Lock's hunt for the boy turns into an explosive game of cat and mouse.

this book started out good. the bodyguard who saves the day. then it gets almost unbelievable-- there were too many subplots. without using spoilers the last 3/4 of the book was crazy. this could have been a 5 star story -- if there were not so many crazy backstories for almost everyone in the book.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

I have had this book for 2 years, and just now decided to listen. -- I read all the reviews and they were not very good.
Now I do not know why, it is a great book -- just like Sandra Brown.

the going back and forth to the past to tell part of the story is a trademark for her. I really liked this book, and wonder why it took me so long ..
on a side note, Envy by Sandra Brown is one of my all time favorites, this is almost as good.
