First of all I do not like short stories. This is basically a new twist on how to deliver short stories. It is a good idea in my opinion I listened to more of the short stories than any other before skipping to the end. The first 5 hours of the story is exactly how the description reads "Through the doors of The Outpost have come the greatest heroes, villains and adventurers of the galaxy - to drink, to brag, and to swap tales." You get a couple of hours of one solid story at the end. The only reason I am giving it a bad review is because I feel a little mislead. If I had realized how important that one sentence was I would not have purchased it.
For those of you who have children or have spent any time around them this will define the book for you.
This book is reminds me of two children having the same arguments day after day about the same things. You get to the point where you can just zone out and come back to it at any point and still know whats going to happen next. Thank you Audible for the 2.5x speed setting!
Terry Goodkind got very long winded. He spent way to much time describing the same thing from 14 different angles. Then twenty minutes later he'll say it or some version of it again. I have been a big fan of the Sword of Truth series and was thrilled when the story continued with Richard and Kahlan series but I almost didn't finish the book. The next one I will be watching the reviews to see if it gets better.
Sam Tsoutsouvas did a good job with the voices but he read it a little bit to slow. That combined with all of Goodkinds rambling made it almost impossible to keep my mind from wondering. This was the first book I have ever altered the speed on and I just kept turning it up until I got to 2x!!!
I listened to the first book only two weeks before this one and it flowed nicely from book to book. This is one of those book series that is one large story and not true series. The story line picks up where The Lost Gate left off and continues on nicely and end with me looking for the next part of the download.
If you liked The Lost Gate you will like this one too.
This feels more like the first two chapters of the book. Left me wishing I hadn't bothered until the rest was out.
If you don't pay close attention you will get lost due to the lack of detail. I have never read the book but after reading the other reviews I feel important parts of the story was left out witch would have made it good listen.
He changed the voices tones and accents. You get use to the charters voice being a certain way and all of a sudden Roy uses a different accent or tone. I listened to all five in a row while I drive and work and it made the story a little hard to follow.
