Yeah thanks Michael, you left out the part about the graphic gay sex that takes up at least a third of the book.

Pretty good story and the 80s references were spot on. Unfortunately I lived through that era and felt the gamers, including myself to some extent were a little sad and a little pathetic. If D&D and video game trivia still float your boat then you will love this one.

I have listened to 200-300 audio books and in my opinion, this is the best author/narrator combination on Audible. The Dave Robicheaux saga is just outstanding. My advice to all new listeners is to trace this series back to the beginning and ENJOY. There really is not a bad apple in the barrel.

This book should be required reading at our universities because it puts to rest the myth of the noble peace-loving savage. The book is informative, factually accurate and entertaining.

I have seen Peters on Fox a number of times and find him credible but the premise for this book is not. The idea that evangelicals in the military would usurp the armed services and the government is so nutty I can't suspend belief. Perhaps if the crusades had happened 100 years ago rather than 800 years ago, it would be different. As it stands, Peters spends an inordinate amount of time developing a premise that is laughable. A 3 for decent war description.

I realize this is fiction but in this book, Larsson turns Salander into a kind of female James Bond. It was just too much for me. And for Christ's sake, there is no such thing as a Colt 45 magnum.

An atheist lawyer in a biracial extra-marital relationship coming to the rescue of the "noble savage" corrupted by the white man's evil oil. Please.....If they had a PC meter, this one would be off the chart. A good author wasting his talent on a political polemic. Michael Crichton's successor.

I am a Koontz fan and have a dozen of his books in audio form. I can't tell if he was going for penny novel atmosphere or it was written in 1987 when he was not very good but I found it long, predictable and boring. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.

Like an earlier reviewer, I also like long, unabridged booktapes. I barely got through this one. If you like exciting, linear, plot-driven narrative, then forget about it. This book was simply strange. It wasn't necesarily bad, just strange. Also, if you have kids you should know that there are graphic descriptions of sexual acts.
