A comet the color of blood and flame cuts across the sky. And from the ancient citadel of Dragonstone to the forbidding shores of Winterfell, chaos reigns. Six factions struggle for control of a divided land and the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms, preparing to stake their claims through tempest, turmoil, and war.

Would you try another book from George R. R. Martin and/or Roy Dotrice?

I am committed to reading all of George R.R. Martin's books however I will not do another audio book narrated by Roy Dotrice. I read regular books, Kindle books and audio books. I would do another audiobook if I knew it was not narrated by Roy Dotrice. Sorry Roy!

What did you like best about this story?

I've also been watching the HBO series and it's so nice to know more of the back story.

How could the performance have been better?

An audio book is all about how well the narrator can tell the story, take on different voices for different characters, etc. You need to be able to get lost in the story. Listing to Mr. Dotrice is painful.

    Any additional comments?

Amazon will get my money to read future books. No more audio books for me narrated by Mr. Dotrice.

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Russell says: "Glad I Listened to 11-22-63 First"
    "It's all about the narration"
    Overall

I have listened to many audio books, and for me the book is made by the narration. Under the Dome is no exception. Raul Esparza is fabulous. Of course in this case you also have to love the way Steven King winds out a novel, and he does it in classic King style. If you liked The Stand you will like this book too.
