I've been a fan of Patrick McManus for years, I enjoy his brand of humor. But I could only read about 3 chapters of any of his books of short stories before having to quit from the headache the laughing gave me.
What a surprise to listen to "The Blight Way"! It has the same humor, but woven into a genuine storyline that, unlike the discount tent, actually holds water. We listened to it on a trip in the car and my wife liked it as well.

Well worth the time and money.

Not after the intellectual assault of "That is All".

Only in small snippets, what is what Mr. Hodgman should stick to the 2 min monologue.

John works well as a narrator of his own stuff. His side kick and other cameo appearances were interesting, but the whole thing was like eternally listening to someone tell a joke and waiting for the punch line, which never comes.

It was an exercise in self discipline, since I bought the thing, I had better listen to it. But it was an arduous task. The primary redeeming quality is that it has an end.

I was disappointed that john found it necessary to resort to profanity. He obviously has not mastered the art of comedy without gratuitous vulgarity.

Johnson has captured the futile essence of hte Viet Nam conflict in this book. Sometimes a little difficult to follow, Johnson's account of the books cast left me feeling like I needed a shower. Definitely catching the darkness at the heart of the era.

A painful and arduous tale of greed and avarice in the not-so-magic kingdom.
