With nearly 100 photographs, including an 8-page four-color insert, and illuminating details about the life of a working actor, from inspired costars and demanding directors to her distinct perspective on how she developed and honed her Tony Award–winning performances, Patti LuPone: A Memoir is as inspirational as it is entertaining. And though the title might say “a memoir,” this is ultimately a love letter to the theatre by a unique American artist.

Terrific book. And not just because it's Patti LuPone (though that's a big part of it). It's a very entertaining insider's look into showbusiness. I loved every minute!

The story begins in a dusty village lost in the Argentine pampas, where a girl, born out of wedlock, scrambles her way to the capital city by the time she is 15. It ends with the embalmed corpse of Eva Peron being hidden away by nervous politicians for fear that if the working people of Argentina knew where it was buried, it would inspire them to revolution.

After seeing the musical, I wanted to know more about Evita. This book does a fantastic job in seperating the myth and legend from the real-world person. One of my favorite listens.

This was a very enjoyable listen. I'd never heard this story before, and it was great. I thought the voice acting was well done. I would recommend!
