Just finished listening to both unabridged books available by Lisa Gardner, wish you had more!! Can't believe I haven't discovered her before now. She writes interesting characters and stories and great puzzles.
It didn't hold my interest as well as Book 1, but I did enjoy it. I like the narrator, love the characters. I did get confused because a few characters' names are so similar. I wish authors would remember this when choosing names. Sylvia, Shirley, pretty close. I'm glad Cath has a cat that likes her!
I did feel annoyed at some of the secret-keeping, but don't want to give away the ending, so that's all I'll say about that.
I enjoyed the main character and the story, even though it's VERY similar to one I just finished by Tami Hoag.
Although the whole government angle is depressing and frustrating, it's satisfying to ride along with Joe and Mary Beth as their story unfolds.
I pretty much figured who the killer was fairly close to the start of the book. However, a lot of twists and turns did make me wonder, so it was still suspenseful and a good listen. I'm going to get the next book in the trilogy, but hoping it's not about Dennis Farman.
Made me want to curl up with my knitting and my cat and a nice pot of tea. :) I think I'll have to get the next one for my Girlfriends Cozy Club discussion.
I'm not a great reviewer, all I can say is that this is a great listen. If you liked it, try Mr. Churchill's Secretary for another from the same era.
I just love these characters. Very mysterious tidbits about Assad, can't wait to get the next one and find out what it's all about
And the Rose twist--very interesting.
I also love the occasional laugh-out-loud moments, Carl and his sarcasm, especially when I'm listening while driving--I get a kick wondering if other drivers are wondering what is so funny.
They may be far between, but I so enjoy a good Tess Monaghan! My only complaint was being sorry it was over. :(
This would be a great book to listen to on a family car trip!
Flavian is really enjoyable, I might have to purchase and listen to the next one right away.
This was a gripping book! I kept wondering what all the fuss was about, it is well worth your listening credit!
I kept thinking I had it figured out, then more was revealed.
