"Entertaining, Funny, Odd!!"
Like all the other Christopher Moore I have listen to, You Suck is just as entertaining. Moore has such a knack for creating strange yet normal characters that his stories are like a breath of fresh. I made a mistake and listened to this out of sequence, but doesn't matter, everything fell right into place. I was also surprised with the narration. After reading others say the Bennett was weak, I would disagree. She does a great job!
"Pleasantly Surprised!"
I was born in 1970, but didn't really find music until the 80's with punk and hair bands, so i wasn't much into the Allman Brothers. I knew a few of their songs, but it was Van Halen and ZZ Top for me back then..
After reading reviews, I was intrigued and gave it a shot. I'm glad I did! This is a super interesting book and gives a real insight to what the music scene was all about back in the 60's and 70's...
I had no idea of the accomplishments of Gregg Allman. There are some really funny stories and all of them are extremely interesting.
You don't need to know much about the Allman Brothers Band to enjoy this book.
As for the narration... Will Patton is one of my very favorite narrators (as well as a great actor). He was the perfect choice for this one.
He really put the soul of Gregg Allman into his narration.
"Great theory about the Linbergh kidnapping!"
I was concerned that being a historical book it would be dull, but it was a really well thought out story with some extremely interesting insight into the Linbergh kidnapping. I never knew much about this particular event, but the information is laid out well and unfolding beautifully to keep you interested.
The narrator does a fantastic job which certainly helps hold the listener.
"Really great story!"
Read this as a kid, but didn't remember much about it.
This is one of those stories that you want to keep listening to when the drive has ended and it's time to get out of the car.
Like always, Will Patton nails the narration.
"Fascinating book about the Civil War"
I have never been much into the Civil War, but someone told me to give this one a shot and I'm glad I did! The story is constantly moving and you don't have to memorize all the players to keep up. The narrator does a really fantastic job bringing this book to life and you find yourself wanting to keep listening. Although it's historical fiction, you really learn a lot about what took place with the battle of Gettysburg.
"Great Narrator for this book!!"
I love the narration style of Will Patton which is the primary reason I chose this book. Patton does a great job as usual with the narration of a book that can drone on at certain times. The story is good, but this is one where i found myself easily drifting in and out as it didn't always keep my attention. I would still recommend it as a listen if just for the craziness that is encountered through the numerous trips across the U.S. and into Mexico in the late 40's.
"One of my all-time favorites!!"
This is a quirky story about a really eccentric man. I read this book several years ago and wanted to buy it on audio to listen on my drive to and from work. The narration is absolutely spot on and really brings out more in this book than just reading it. If you are familiar with New Orleans, then you will enjoy this book even more as the follies unfold all over town.
"Really great memoir!!"
I love Carol Burnett growing up, and listening to her stories really brought back a lot of childhood memories. She is a great narrator and the stories she tells will keep you laughing and crying.
"Must listen for anyone interested in space"
This is a fascinating book about the beginning of the space race through Apollo 11. Great insight into the thoughts of those involved in space exploration as well as the lives that were changed because of it. This book is centered around Apollo 11, but a lot of it has to do with the creation of the rocket and the missions leading up to Armstrong and Aldrin walking on the moon. Narration is great and the information is really intriguing.
"Instant Classic!"
Great fun for anyone who has kids. They couldn't have picked a better narrator!!
"Absolutely Amazing!"
Of the 60+ books I have listened to this is one of the best! Everything this guy guy (and all POWs) endured through out the war is simply mind boggling. The writing is excellent and I can't think of a better narrator then Edward Hermann. If you like World War II and non-fiction, this is a must listen!
