"Hearwarming"
Absolutely!!!
I listened to it all in one day. I couldn't leave
It made me laugh, feel happy, encouraged, and even made me cry. It was definitely a true account of life, with all it's up and downs. It was interesting to hear a lot of how tribal customs and cultures run of those around him. I didn't want the story to end. How sad to find out he died last year. I am left with curiosity of how the elephants and the people are doing and if the lodge is still running. What a tribute to how love and patience can achieve so much
"You MUST know your history to follow this book"
I cannot say if this book was good or not as I got lost early on as to who was who. I felt I needed to go on the internet and make a family tree of all the Royals in many countries before I could move on. The characters also having same names didn't help either. The narrator pulled me in right away.
"It could have been.......book"
The story could have been very interesting if the author left out over describing things as if he was trying to make sure the book was long enough. Then the narrator spoke too slow like he was reading poetry. It was hard to pay attention to the story. All I kept thinking while trying to stay focused was, " just tell the story". It sounds like Dan Terry was an incredible person, it would have been great to have heard it in a different manner than it was written and narrated.
Don't narrate any more of your books or others.
"Sugar coated"
Spoke like we were little children being explained something complicated
While we are all interested in people's accounts of what happened during the attack this one piqued my curiosity as her story is the only one I have heard of a rescue so much time after the collapse of the WTC buildings. I can completely relate to the reflections of the mistakes of your life when you are facing death, and knowing how God can change a bad situation from good to bad, I felt that it related little to her emotional and physical struggles that one would certainly be challenged with, as all it seemed to give was a brag story of how she kept her promises to God if she lived. Then the end was nothing short of a sermon that didn't glorify God but herself and how awesome she was now. It was completely sugar coated, I couldn't even finish the book. Don't get me wrong I am a believer and rely on God in all those difficult times. But I know God takes us through journeys to grow and not just have an instant fairy tale happy ever after ending. For example how can one be trapped for so long and not be able to move on and not face any after effects?
