This is not worth the time or money. Poorly organized, broken by many extraneous interruptions, read from out-of-date notes, and given by a "professor" who is no more an academic than a high school student. I was completely disappointed and unhappy with this book and amazed that the Audible description was so inaccurate. If I could get my money back, I would.

I was very pleased with this book and recording through the periods for which I had no personal experience. But when it got to "modern" times (ca. 1900 onwards), which I have studied as well as lived, I realized that the author is strongly biased and indeed does not provide an accurate historical account, but rather a philosophical and political one. This, of course, means I do not trust the history before 1900, as I'm sure the same bias exists. I couldn't stand to even listen to the book after he starts in on the 1960s, as he is both wrong and strongly prejudiced. I do not recommend.

Ponderous, yes. Comprehensive, yes, yes. Up to date--wow. Carroll is a genius at seeing the links between critical ideas. I have heard him lecture on physics through the Teaching Company, and this book is far superior. But it is hard going, and sadly the publisher has not provided the figures to go with it, so it is difficult to follow some of Carroll's arguments. I recommend the first section to get your feet under you, the last section to review, and in between just listen and be amazed. This book will change your perspectives on both time and the universe. And you will get lots of exercise in the process.

I thought this would be a comprehensive history of TR as well as his environmental activities. It is not. Not only is it poorly organized, it is incredibly boring. I gave up after a few chapters.

Not only an incredibly well written biography done by a biographic wizard, but narration that brings this very long story alive. Short of hearing Churchill tell his own story, I can't imagine a better job.

The biography is engaging and energetic. The narration is a bit flat, but not to the point where one wants to give up listening. All in all a lesson worth learning.

The story is, of course, a great classic. But it comes alive with the outstanding narration. I recommend without reservation.

Good stories, some of which are well narrated, but not as interesting as the title suggests. These are mainly stories by other authors, not Twain. And while some are quite good, others are downright boring. OK for historical perspective.
