After narrowly surviving his last operation, Gabriel Allon, the wayward son of Israeli intelligence, has taken refuge behind the walls of the Vatican, where he is restoring one of Caravaggio's greatest masterpieces. But early one morning he is summoned to St. Peter's Basilica by Monsignor Luigi Donati, the all-powerful private secretary to his Holiness Pope Paul VII. The body of a beautiful woman lies broken beneath Michelangelo's magnificent dome.

Robert says: "When will Gabriel retire?"
    "Weak story line."

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This is not up to Silva's usual efforts. It's a very contrived and boring story.

Detective John Corey now faces his toughest assignment yet: the pursuit and capture of the world's most dangerous terrorist -- a young Arab known as "The Lion" who has baffled a federal task force and shows no sign of stopping in his quest for revenge against the American pilots who bombed Libya and killed his family.

I usually very much enjoy Scott Brick's reading. He was perfect in The Lion's Game. But for some reason, he greatly slowed down his naration in The Lion to the point that I hardly recognize him. It is very annoying. Because of the reader, I would not listen to this book.
