This series was so good I was disappointed when book 4 ended. Bummed. I want more.
I hope there is a book 5 in the works or perhaps the author is writing similar novels. Book 4 ended as if there could be a book 5. I hope so. The series was excellent in my opinion. I want more!!!!
I did not like this book at all except for narrator Nicholas Boulton. I did not like the thees and thous nor did I like the story line. This was a disappointing book by Laura Kinsale.
I love the series. I like historical facts intertwined in the book. I found one discrepancy regarding Mary of Mar and the Earl of Atoll but I can excuse that as the author's depiction of Atoll's death was right on. A great book of romance, history and Scotland. (I wish authors would leave more to the imagination regarding sexual 'liaisons'. I would like books to be less sexually explicit, but that is just my opinion).
For one thing I liked Robert McNab much better as the voice of the Highland Guard. The character Helen irritated me.She was too tedious for me. I am fascinated by Scottish history and novels that are historically accurate.
The Prince of Midnight was not as good as Flowers in the Storm or The Shadow and the Star. This book was a little darker. Two injured birds instead of one. Nicholas Boulton is perfect as usual. He has a wonderful voice for narrating.
If you like historical romance novels of the aristocracy, You will enjoy this book. You feel the pain, joy, and sadness of a 'marriage of convenience'. Anne Flosnik is one of the best narrators. I am on to the second of the books in the series.
Laura Kinsale always seems to manage to tug at your heart strings. You feel for her characters. Her stories are very well written. They keep me interested from beginning to end and leave me wanting more. Nicholas Boulton is a wonderful narrator and brings the characters alive.
Book 3 of the MacKinnon's Rangers series did not disappoint. Kaleo Griffith is a wonderful narrator. I had not heard him until this series. He brought the Mackinnons and the Rangers to life. Historically very interesting. I would like to make an observation here. Why do authors these days have to be so sexually explicit in their books? I would have given the story 5 stars if it had not been for the explicit sex.
History, romance, sex, all in one book. If you like historical romance novels you can't go wrong with the MacKinnon's and their Rangers. Wonderful book.
If you like historical romantic novels you can not go wrong with Mackinnon's Rangers. Great story based around early American history, great narrator. I am now on book 2.
Rosalyn Landor is one of my favorite narrators but this story was just plain boring. The best narrator in the world could not help this book.
