She's 33, unmarried, and stuffed into a Bubble-Yum-pink bridesmaid dress. And the whole town wants to fix her up with anyone with a dental plan.... Who's going to rescue Sadie Hollowell now? Everyone in Lovett, Texas, knows Sadie has always been a "notional" kind of gal. She got a notion to leave town ASAP and never visit her daddy (bless his heart) again. Now she's back and got the notion to invite a good-looking, hard-muscled, total stranger to her cousin's wedding.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I loved the humorous quips that came out of the main character's conversations and observations in her head. She gave me more than a few chuckles as she summed people up (after returning to her home town).

I enjoy the Highland books and this book did not disappoint. I had a couple of small issues with the book, however. I felt the author did a little overkill on describing Ariana's marriage. My other issue is with the narrator, Angela Dawe. I try to avoid any book that has her as a narrator. When she is not speaking for one of the characters there just is no inflection in her voice. I have my favorites and she is not one of them.

I think I am addicted to the Scottish Highlander books. I have Scottish blood flowing through my veins. These Highlanders are always described as "the tallest man she had ever seen" and the most muscular. A little day dreaming never hurt anyone. I love Scottish history so when there is a good story line with history, villains, heroes, and damsels in distress I am happy. It was a nice book, not with oversexed content (a welcome change). I wasn't that impressed by the narrator but all in all a very nice entertaining book.

Oh how I love the tall muscular Highlander books with deep voices. Vonda Sinclair made him so likeable I wanted to slap sense into the damsel in distress a couple of times. I have yet to find a man that kind. There were ups and downs in the book that certainly kept my interest. I even listened to it twice, a few months apart.

Through their innocent correspondence, a lonely young wife grows to love an imaginary man thousands of miles away. But when he returns to England from India, her idea of reality is turned upside down. Drawn from a safe world of tea and parlor chat into madness and mystery, she cannot find her own cherished Robert in the frightening stranger who claims her love. Laura Kinsale personally chose the exceptional talent of Nicholas Boulton to voice her favorite heroine, sweet, witty Folie with her ferret, Toot.

There always seems to be an injured bird in her books. I couldn't quite understand if one of the characters was insane or just nuts. It was certainly quite an emotional roller coaster ride for the character which made the story a little dark. This was not my favorite Laura Kinsale book. As usual narrator Nicholas Boulton was excellent.

For one thing I did not like the style in which the book was written. One reviewer called it "Delightful". I did not consider it delightful. It was somewhat tedious. I thought the author was trying to imitate Jane Austen in this novel. It didn't work for me.

I am always amazed by authors who do not choose a good narrator for their book. There is nothing worse than to read a review that makes the book sound very interesting only to have it ruined by a terrible narrator. Brad Wills is a very good narrator and he does not disappoint in Rowan's Lady. He has a wonderful narrating voice. Combined with a good book you can't go wrong. I enjoyed Rowan's Lady.
