I'm sorry I wasted my money. I liked the first book in the series but this one just didn't have my interest right from the start and it went downhill from there. My advice is to pass on this book. I wish I had. Two thumbs down.

Trevelyan d'Augustin and Lady Callista Talliafaire were secret sweethearts, until the day her father dismissed him with a whip across the face. Ten years and three jiltings later, shy Callie is resigned to a quiet village life as the late earl's spinster daughter. But now Trev has returned from his estates in France, upending everything, dragging her into adventures, stealing Hubert the prize-winning bull, and flinging Callie's heart into mayhem again.

Nicholas Boulton is one of my favorite narrators. His narration for Lessons in French did not disappoint. His voice for Trev was wonderful. Sigh! Laura Kinsale injects a little humor in the conversations between Trev and Callie. I loved the book.

It wasn't the best of Kathryn Le Veque's books. At least it was not my favorite. It just wasn't as interesting.

I have never seen plague bring a man back from the dead. Nor do I know of any sickness, in England or upon the continent, that gives its victims a taste for living flesh. So declares Sir Edward Dallingridge, a noble knight whose years defending England on the battlefield haven't prepared him to face an enemy as chilling - and relentless - as the living dead. But even as his countrymen flee in horror, Sir Edward rides straight into the unholy infestation. For his lady love lies trapped behind a hundred miles of fiendish terror, and nothing will keep him from her.

Three knights in the time of the plague trying to reach Sir Edward's wife. What trials and tribulations befall the Knights on their journey to save Elizabeth. The book had a little science fiction to it regarding those with the plague. Part of me liked the book, part of me didn't. Plus it should have a different ending.

1200 A.D. - After decades of warring between the Lairds of Kerr and Prudhoe Castle in Northumbria, a tentative peace is reached. The Lady Carington Kerr is sent to Prudhoe as a hostage to ensure her father's good behavior, and a more reluctant hostage there never was. Small and dark, with emerald eyes and a luscious figure, she is as gorgeous as she is fiery. Enter Sir Creed de Reyne; a gentle giant of a man, he is, by nature, calm and wise. He is the ice to Carington's fire.

I for one could not find any fault with the book nor the narrator. My Nana was born in Scotland. Our clan's motto is Bydand!

She raced across the pasture, vaulted a fence, and landed, stunned and breathless, on top of the most handsome man she had ever seen. The bemused stranger stayed to capture the fancy of the brood of orphaned children in her charge, then stole Lauren Hill's heart with a searing kiss as he left. Lauren couldn't tell him she was a widowed countess fallen on hard times. She tried to forget him - until she saw him again at a London ball. The man who haunted her dreams was a duke, out of her class...and he was pledged to another woman.

I would have given 4 stars for the story but it got so tedious towards the end. The two characters became tiresome by their flip flopping feelings. Too many flip flops for me. As always Anne Flosnik's narrating was excellent.
