Sixth-grader Simon Bloom has found the Teacher's Edition of Physics, a magical reference book containing the very formulas that control the laws that govern the universe! By reciting the formulas out loud, he's able to do the impossible - like reverse the force of gravity to float weightlessly, and reduce friction to zoom across any surface! But before he knows it, he is being pursued by evil forces bent on gaining control of the formulas, and they'll do anything to retrieve them.

Don't skip this book just because the main character is 11 years old. This is a fun listen for any age.

A BBC Radio six-part adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best-selling novel, starring James McAvoy as Richard and Natalie Dormer as Door. Beneath the streets of London there is another London. A subterranean labyrinth of sewers and abandoned tube stations. A somewhere that is Neverwhere....

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, it was a waste of time and money. I love Neil Gaiman's writing, but this audio adaptation version cannot be followed without first reading the book (which I have not done).

Would you ever listen to anything by Neil Gaiman again?

Yes, provided it was not an adaptation.

What three words best describe the narrators’s voice?

    Difficult to understand

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Nope

    Any additional comments?

Glad it was on sale and I didn't pay full price for it.

In this Hugo Award-winning classic, Enoch Wallace is an ageless hermit, striding across his untended farm as he had done for over a century, still carrying the gun with which he had served in the Civil War. But what his neighbors must never know is that, inside his unchanging house, he meets with a host of unimaginable friends from the farthest stars.

I was very happy to find this old favorite out in audio format. It's a great story and well spoken.

John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First, he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce - and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So, we fight, to defend Earth and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding.

A very entertaining story and expertly read. Listening to the "old folks" complaints as the get ready to start a new career is a real kick. A very different way of looking at the future.
