With a relentless TV lawyer and public mob still out for Lillian Linden-Smith's blood for crimes committed by her "American royalty" parents, getting out of the country is her only hope for anonymity. If that means cleaning up and presenting an antisocial know-it-all Ph.D. for bookstores, clubs and lectures, fine. Dr. Hathaway may have succeeded in driving away all the others, but not this time. From their first meeting the sparks fly, and each is thinking: She has no idea who she's dealing with.

    Story

Love by the Numbers is definitely a romance novel. This isn't a criticism. I was looking for a light "read" to listen to during a long drive, and this novel is as good or better than many romances I've read. I just think it helps understanding that the focus and depth of the plot are that of a romance novel. I thought that it was well written. The author took the time to develop characters and a relationship that are engaging. The dialogue seemed natural for the characters. The steamy moments were also well done. My biggest criticism of the audiobook has to do with the narration. The production value was very good. However, sometimes the narration was so out of synch with the emotional tone of the story that it made me disconnect with the story. For example, the narrator would add near chuckles to the end of sentences that seemed to be more serious. Also, I know I'm being too picky on this point, but the voice she picked for one of the more important side characters was really grating. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I'm glad that I purchased the audiobook as an add-on to kindle rather than full price.
