In the summer of 1974, a 14-year-old girl in Dolton, Illinois, had a dream - a dream to become an actress. But it was a long way from the South Side of Chicago to Hollywood, and it didn’t help that she’d recently dropped out of the school play, The Ugly Duckling, or that the Hollywood casting directors she wrote to replied that "professional training was a requirement". But the funny thing is, it all came true....

When a mysterious American offers Charlie 20,000 euros to steal two small monkey figurines to match the one he already has, Charlie is suspicious; the job seems too good to be true, and of course, it is. He soon finds the American beaten nearly to death, while the third figurine has disappeared.

And it can be great: you’ve had the hottest sex of your life; you get that plum job; you muster the courage to write your novel. Sugar—the once-anonymous online columnist at The Rumpus, now revealed as Cheryl Strayed, author of the best-selling memoir Wild—is the person thousands turn to for advice. Tiny Beautiful Things gathers the best of "Dear Sugar" in one place and includes never-before-published columns.

I read this in 2 days on a drive up and back from LA <> SF it was great and I recommended it to my mom. Very real and thoughtful as well as a book you can FF a little and get to a story more pertinent to you and not feel bad because there are hundreds of stories.

What does Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond (intro) bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is awesome and I wish she narrated her book "Wild" as well... shes a great performer.

What insight do you think you’ll apply from Tiny Beautiful Things?

lots - and its personal and once you read it you will find your personal applications as well.
