Detective Alex Cross confronts his most terrifying nemesis ever - and his own worst fears - in this electrifying new thriller from the master of suspense, James Patterson.

Out of all of the Alex Cross series, I found this one a disappointment. But, admittedly I'm not sure if it was simply the content which I did not find appealing.

Troy Phelan is a self-made billionaire, one of the richest men in the United States. He is also eccentric, reclusive, confined to a wheelchair, and looking for a way to die. His potential heirs, to no one's surprise - especially Troy's - are circling like vultures. But Troy shocks them all when he leaves his fortune to an estranged, illegitimate daughter.

    Overall

This is a very different Grisham read but in my opinion one of his best. There is far more to garner from this listen than simply the story. One can easily begin to become a bit introspective and examine yourself as you listen to Grisham peel the layers off of his characters. A wonderful change from his other late 90's books which eventually confused me as to which one I was reading. A great book and welcome change!

In 1970, one of Mississippi's more colorful weekly newspapers, The Ford County Times, went bankrupt. To the surprise and dismay of many, ownership was assumed by a 23 year-old college dropout, named Willie Traynor. The future of the paper looked grim until a young mother was brutally raped and murdered by a member of the notorious Padgitt family. Willie Traynor reported all the gruesome details, and his newspaper began to prosper.

I found this book a difficult listen and would definitely put it on the bottom of my Grisham list.

Power! Sex! Money! Fame! The new Hollywood wives are back with a vengeance. Whatever they don't have, they want - and whatever these women want, they get. Collins fans "will not be disappointed with this newest trendy fable," says Publishers Weekly.

I'm not sure which was worse..the beginning, the middle or the end. Nothing to the book and definitely not worth the time to download, never mind the hours necessary to listen to it.

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.

One of the first audio books I have not been able to "put down". The ability to hold one's interest as she weaves from "sub-story" to "sub-story" is phenomenal. Definitely a 5 star book.
