I love all of the books I have read from Card. This is the first one I listened to and was not disappointed. This was written before the Ender series and though vastly different, is similarly themed: Expand past your prejudices and become something greater and affect change for the better. I really enjoyed this book.
I felt sick when I listened to this book.
The cast of characters were despicable.
If anything was too big to fail it was their individual ego's.
I am glad I purchased this book for the perspective it provides. It provided me with a better understanding of the markets and the people behind them.
The book does not spend a lot of time going into causes or ways to avoid this problem in the future. It is more like a series of snap shots over time that show events unfold over time. The perspective is rather clinical in nature.
I loved loved loved this series. Great science fiction. Great characters. I could not wait to listen to this book each day.
This book is fantastic.
It is not dry, boring, slow, which you might expect for a subject like cancer.
It is technical, but only so much as a laymen needs to understand the basics.
It is so well organized that it easy to see the progression of our research and understanding of the disease. This is the best part of the book, because this could easily become so overwhelming that you could get lost. Siddhartha makes the book right here.
It is so informative. I now understand the current theory on the cause of cancer and understand what I can and cannot do to protect myself and my family.
It is moving. Siddhartha has done a magnificent job of conveying the hopes, fears, excitement, disappointment, death, and life of the people in this book. I found myself connected to the people and patients.
The first half of the book is great. The author discusses the scientific advances in both fusion and fission. Unfortunately, he dedicates a large portion of the 2nd half of the book to cold fusion, which should have only received mention. It is unfortunate because he really had something. Overall I would still recommend the book if you have any interest in the science behind nuclear power.
An amazing book, both in story and delivery. Both the story and writing style are still current even though more than 60 years have passed. This is a must read.
I really enjoyed this book. It gets a little slow in places where the author develops the history and back story, but overall it was an amazing book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was not a typical science fiction book where the ideas and concepts are contemporary with a futuristic setting. The author also does a good job not following traditional plots and themes. I never knew what to expect next. I was disappointed when it ended because there was so many questions and possabilities that still existed. Another sign of a good book.
This was a very entertaining book. The time flew by as I listened. If you like his other books you will like this.
