Dick Hill is perfect for the Reacher series. He has the main character in just the way he plays out in my imagination. He especially nails the nuances of Reacher being sarcastic or Reacher being ironic or Reacher being playful, etc.
I don't think the plots/story lines of the Reacher books compare to much of anything - I guess in many ways they are fairly standard action/mystery fare. But Reacher books do compare to Reacher books. This is a less violent Reacher than many (although he does a thorough job of beating someone) and maybe a little less romantic in his romance but he is the same contradiction of a "lifer" who loves the army yet somehow finds authority figures he won't obey.
I don't know if moving is the right word but surprising perhaps. When it was all over and Reacher still confronts his antagonist (and how he confronts him) surprised me.
If you haven't read Reacher, start. Its a great series. If you have, read this one - its good.
