"This is great!"
This is a wonderful story, related by a superb actor.
Many will remember the incredible performance of Peter Sellers in this film. But the narated book is possibly better. I would recommend this to everyone.
"Le Carre' is brilliant!"
Le Carre' should have won the Nobel for literature. His books are all great, and probably better listening to than read. Jayston has the perfect voice for the job, and varies it professionally. Even if you have read all of Le Carre' (as I have), it is well worth hearing it all again - there is always something more to get out of it.
"Worth listening to"
The story is OK - a bit American, moralistic and repetitive with the themes, but it works OK. The narrator is brilliant! - he does all the accents (without overdoing them), and makes you want to hear more (despite the reserves you may have about the storyline).
All up, worth buying.
"Classic Le Carré"
This is probably the best spy book ever written. I have read it twice before, but thoroughly enjoyed listening to Jayston's reading. He is perfect for the job.
"Wonderful listening"
This is a wonderful story, very well read.
It is the book that Ian McEwen wished he wrote!
