First it did hit me that the title was: The BASQUE History of the World... and not A History of the Basque. Perfectly named because you will end up seeing things from a Basque viewpoint..and that is very hard for just anyone to write without getting inside the culture itself.
This was a masterwork.
So I guess I wasn't surprised when I realize who the author was and that I have enjoyed every one of his books.
I will never delete this work from my reading library.
Enjoyable reading, great reference - and not a bad bit of ethnic cooking - as a person of Italian descent - food TELLS volumes about a people.
A veru good collection of short stories from a variety of master authors. What more could one ask?
Some folks must be raised in white-picket fence towns. This was no more shocking that the stories one grows up with in any factory town.
I am amazed this author wrote Fight Club.
If you need to be horrified and slash is part of it - then watch Saw or Hostile that kind of stuff.
If you like real horror there are many good reads - old and new.
This was just puerile - and lame. I went through about 80% and now just want to delete it from my device and make space for something better. (I found my economics-read more scary actually )
Many historical explanations and comparisons. I was looking for a book to teach me something, not to indoctrinate me into the 'Chicago school' or other bias. This book will help you come to your own conclusions on what works and what fails in economies and why.
