A storm struck on the night Laura Shane was born, and there was a strangeness about the weather that people would remember for years. But even more mysterious was the blond-haired stranger who appeared out of nowhere - the man who saved Laura from a fatal delivery. Years later - after another bolt of lightning - the stranger returned.

Barry says: "One of Koontz' best, entirely enjoyable."
    "a good time-kill"

Overall, the story is okay. It started great. But in the end, it turned out to be a typical scifi novel. Nothing exciting and very predictable.

Briar needs just two things: blood and vengeance. The first sustains her immortal life; the second gives it meaning. First on her hit list is Gregor, the renegade vampire who schooled her in brutality, then betrayed her. To achieve her deadly ends, Briar joins Reaper and his misfit gang of vampires who are also hunting her old mentor. But once she's destroyed Gregor, she'll be gone. Because Briar needs no one. She needs only to satisfy her twin hungers--ones that may ultimately consume her.

Do not waste your time reading this generic book. I bought this because I thought Demon's Kiss was okay. But this is horrible.. I could not have picked a worst book!

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Millennium Trilogy, Book 1

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"
    "Interesting enough.."
    Overall

I had high expectations of this book. I've read great reviews and thought this story would be extraordinary. However, I thought it was just "okay". A little too slow for my taste and the characters were nothing special. To me... another typical typical book...

  • The Host: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (23 hrs and 5 mins)

Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. But Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away.

Keith says: "Great story in a genre only touched upon before"
    "Not Meyer's best"
    Overall

If you've read the Twilight series, do not read this book. This book is def. not Meyer's best, esp. if you compare it to her Twilight series. I felt the book was boring, and very fluffy, a little too fluffy which made the main character unrealistic. I was just not able to connect with the story...
