Why do some lengthy sentences flow effortlessly while others stumble along? Why are you captivated by the writing of particular authors? How can you craft sentences that reflect your unique outlook on the world? This lively, 24-lecture course introduces you to the myriad ways in which we think about, talk about, and write sentences. Reviving the sentence-oriented approach to studying writing, Professor Landon provides a greater context for what makes sentences great - and how you can apply these methods to your own writing.

What made the experience of listening to Building Great Sentences: Exploring the Writer's Craft the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed the presentation of the information in easily absorbed 30+ minute chapters, Mr Landon has a wonderful presence and effectively introduces the subject matter with humor and intelligent simplicity.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Building Great Sentences: Exploring the Writer's Craft?

By breaking down, and then rebuilding well known and well written sentences, it allows you to perceive the structures involved, giving it the sense that I too could someday write!

    Any additional comments?

The only problem concerning this lecture, is the man needs tutoring on pronunciation. Listening to him say 'senences' instead of 'sentences' repeatedly, put my teeth on edge. This was the subject of the ENTIRE lecture, and he couldn't find the 'T' within the word! Once you have latched onto such a glaring mispronunciation, you discover yourself finding more, especially when the word 'senence' is used well over a thousand times during the lecture. I understand there are many out there who will consider this nit-picking to the extreme, and many will have not even noticed, but imagine reading a book where all of the 'r's' have been omitted, it is not that much different.
A means to purchase the notes mentioned would be nice as well.

Stella Hardesty, avenger of wronged women, is getting cozy with Sheriff “Goat” Jones when a tornado blows none other than Goat’s scheming ex-wife, Brandy, through the front door. Adding to the chaos, the tornado destroys the snack shack at the demolition derby track, pulling up the concrete and unearthing a woman’s body. The main suspect for the dumping is Neb Donovan. Years ago, Neb’s wife asked Stella for help getting him sober.

Stella Hardesty dispatched her abusive husband with a wrench shortly before her 50th birthday. A few years later, she’s so busy delivering home-style justice on her days off, helping other women deal with their own abusive husbands and boyfriends, that she barely has time to run her sewing shop in her rural Missouri hometown. Some men need more convincing than others, but it’s usually nothing a little light bondage or old-fashioned whuppin' can’t fix.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Bad Day for Sorry?

The use of quilting tools in a unique way

What about Kym Dakin???s performance did you like?

I really LOVE the style of character Kym Dakin brings forth for Stella. She vocalizes the other characters well too. If you close your eyes you can picture them perfectly!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Wife beaters beware... It's a Baaaaad day for Sorry!

    Any additional comments?

Sophie Littlefield brings humor and empathy to a subject many either ignore or avoid. She also points out to us that life DOES go on after 50. We forget that sometimes

Dexter is experiencing some major life changes - don't we all? And they're mostly wrapped up in the eight-pound curiosity that is his newborn daughter. Family bliss is cut short, however, when Dexter is summoned to investigate the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl who has been running with a bizarre group of goths who fancy themselves to be vampires. As Dexter gets closer to the truth of what happened to the missing girl, he realizes they are not really vampires so much as cannibals.

    Overall

Although the story was another great one from author Jeff Lindsay, his reading of it had me begging for it to end! Why do producers allow the authors to read their own work? It was stilted, jerky and monotonous! Nick Landrum read the previous books, capturing the delightfully deadly Dexter's personality so well. Narrators, as well as actors, are TRAINED to read, imbuing life into the books and creating the experience that leaves us begging for more! I am saddened that Mr. Lindsay felt the vain need to step in and screw it up. Would he step in and take over the role of Dexter on TV? Of course not! Because he isn't TRAINED to do so and would leave it for the PROFESSIONALS! Enough said! His speaking voice is VERY pleasant, but a pleasant voice does not make an enjoyable book. The story line was a bit off the deviously dangerous path we have been used to, though I do feel that it is to create more depth in the characters. After all, Dex can't just be killing all the time! The family unit has grown, and with it Dexter has begun to establish emotional ties. I know others disagree, but I think the story itself is worth the suffering through the authors reading of it. Finally I would like to address the reviewers who think a homicidal hero is terrible and are mad over buying and/or listening to this... did you READ the description? What part of "lovable serial killer with no soul" did you not understand?
